Founded in 1985 and headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut, IFG Companies is one of the largest privately held insurance groups in the United States, employing more than 360 people. The company provides property-casualty insurance on both admitted and non-admitted bases through two principal segments: the Bind Division and the Brokerage Division. The Bind Division, comprising Property and Casualty and Garage business units, offers liability and property coverage for smaller businesses through a national network of contracted producers, while the Brokerage Division serves small to medium-sized firms and select larger businesses through units including Primary Casualty, Excess Casualty, and Inland Marine. Underwriting is carried out through four affiliated insurers—Alamance Insurance Company, The Burlington Insurance Company, First Financial Insurance Company, and Guilford Insurance Company—each rated A (Excellent) IX by A.M. Best Company. Operating under common management, these insurers allow IFG Companies to underwrite business on both an admitted and non-admitted basis across all states and the District of Columbia.
