What you will be doing:
We inspect certain health facilities throughout the state to determine whether they meet state and federal standards, and we investigate complaints made against health facilities and agencies licensed or certified under our program. The purpose of our inspections is to determine a health care provider's ability to provide services which are safe and of an acceptable quality.

The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following position-specific competencies in addition to the minimum qualifications listed below:
- Investigation: Knowledge of the guidelines, regulations, and procedures associated with investigation, including interviewing, evidence detection, locating, gathering, and handling, and drawing appropriate factual inferences and conclusions. Provide oral or written reports of findings. Presenting evidence and providing testimony.
- Compliance Inspection: Knowledge of the guidelines, regulations, and procedures associated with compliance inquiries, including application of compliance rules and criteria and ability to make appropriate decisions and issue citations, fines, or orders.
- Written Communication: Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.
Special Notice:
Requires frequent travel within the state, up to one week at a time, one to two times per month. RN, Alaska License - AS 08.68. Valid Alaska Driver's License, required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska. AND Any combination of education, certification, and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
- Technical Credibility: Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.
- Evidence-Based Practice: integrates best research practices with clinical expertise and patient values for optimum care and participates in learning and research activities to the extent feasible.
- Standards: Knowledge of standards that either are compliant with or derived from established standards or guidelines.
- Reasoning: Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.
- Decision Making: Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.
