Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Field Biologist to join our team! In this role you will get to work on Water/Wastewater projects in Southern Nevada.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Provide biological oversight of construction activities that may affect federally protected species or sensitive habitat.
• Conduct required pre-construction surveys, clearance surveys, habitat evaluations, and biological monitoring within active and planned construction areas.
• Monitor construction activities for compliance with applicable Biological Opinions, permits, environmental commitments, and avoidance and minimization measures.
• Identify protected species and sensitive habitat encountered during construction and provide immediate direction regarding appropriate protective measures.
• Recommend exclusion zones, buffers, or corrective actions when activities pose an immediate risk to protected species or conflict with established biological requirements.
• Handle, relocate, or otherwise manage protected species when specifically authorized by applicable permits, Biological Opinions, or USFWS approvals.
• Provide environmental awareness training and field guidance to contractors, inspectors, construction managers, and other project personnel.
• Maintain complete and accurate monitoring logs, survey records, species observations, photographs, and environmental compliance documentation.
• Prepare biological monitoring reports and provide information required to support agency reporting and environmental compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with the Owner, Construction Manager, environmental team, and contractors regarding protected-species encounters, changed field conditions, compliance issues, and required corrective actions.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• Previously approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services as an Authorized Biologist.
• Demonstrated field experience identifying applicable protected species, their life stages, habitat, and signs of presence.
• Knowledge of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and applicable federal environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience conducting biological surveys and construction monitoring in active construction environments.
• Ability to interpret and implement requirements contained in Biological Opinions, permits, conservation measures, and environmental specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of clear field documentation and compliance reports.
• Ability to communicate environmental requirements effectively with contractors, inspectors, construction managers, and project stakeholders.
• Ability to independently evaluate changing field conditions and make timely, defensible biological recommendations.
• Ability to work outdoors in active construction environments and travel between project sites as required.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Experience supporting public infrastructure, water/wastewater, pipeline, utility, or heavy civil construction projects.
• Previous experience working directly with USFWS and other federal, state, or local resource agencies.
• Experience supporting projects subject to ESA Section 7 consultation and Biological Opinion requirements.
• Familiarity with construction documents, environmental specifications, work plans, and contractor means and methods.
• Experience developing and delivering Worker Environmental Awareness Program (WEAP) or similar environmental training.
• Experience coordinating environmental requirements within a PMCM or Owner’s construction management team.
• Strong understanding of the relationship between construction sequencing, environmental restrictions, and schedule impacts.
• Experience using electronic field reporting, GIS, GPS, document management, or environmental compliance tracking systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with construction personnel while maintaining independent environmental compliance responsibilities.
• Experience supporting multiple concurrent construction projects or geographically dispersed project sites.

Salary Range:

$30.58 - $53.51
