Origination coordinator

This position is in our Ag & Trading enterprise, where we connect producers and users of grains and oilseeds around the globe through origination, trading, processing, and distribution. We also offer a range of farmer services and risk management solutions.

Job Purpose and Impact

Cargill Ag and Trading in Kenya is involved in the origination and sale of grains and oilseeds including maize, wheat, soybeans, and soybean meal, among others, within Kenya and the wider East Africa. The Origination Coordinator will handle a moderately complex supplier base and fulfill transactions delivering commodities that meet production requirements and specifications in terms of timing, volume, quantity and cost. In this role, you will buy and sell commodities from and to country elevators, producers, feed mills and processors.

Key Accountabilities

• Collaborate with transportation and logistics, quality assurance, customer managers and finance teams to ensure efficient execution.
• Plan purchases and transportation to maximize profitable use of stock and storage facilities.
• Collaborate with transport and logistics to research and analyze various freight opportunities in the marketplace to maximize margin.
• Work directly with customers, suppliers and business counterparts to meet their needs in solving routine problems and addressing complaints and concerns.
• Enter routine data and run specialty reports from our contract management databases and systems.
• Responsible for accurate processing of sales and purchase contracts into the enterprise resource planning system for multiple sites.
• Check and solve problems when facing unclear points in the contracts by contacting the responsible departments to find solution.
• Process sales and purchase contract amendments in the system based on input received from the sales, trade and supply chain teams after validating possible impact and consequences.
• Support merchandising by alignment on intercompany sales and purchase book.
• Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Commerce or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of related work experience.
• Proficiency in data analytics and AI fluency.
• Flexibility to work outside an assigned workstation in Eldoret and to travel within the East Africa region.
• Valid and clean Kenyan driving license.
• Other minimum qualifications may apply.
