Job Description

Irrigation Crew Lead / Field Operations Coordinator

Barrett Lawn Care, Hopkins, MN

Starting pay: $29 to $35 per hour, dependent on experience.

This is a long-term, year-round position, 4-5 days/week (10-hour days), including snow removal during winter months.

At Barrett Lawn Care, you are not just a number, you are a member of our family. Our growing business values its employees and shows it by providing:

  • A team dedicated to supporting your professional growth
  • New and up-to-date equipment and trucks
  • Opportunities to earn PTO
  • A 401k retirement account
  • Benefits through Aflac
  • Cross-training, growth, and recognition opportunities (including bonuses)

About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated, dependable, and organized leader to join our irrigation department. We want someone who takes pride in their work, leads by example, and helps keep our crews running smoothly every day. Irrigation experience is highly preferred, but strong leadership skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to take ownership matter most.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily crew schedules, assignments, and routes
  • Make sure technicians have the materials, tools, and information they need before heading out
  • Lead, guide, and support technicians throughout the day
  • Help troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and commercial irrigation systems
  • Communicate with office staff on scheduling, job progress, customer concerns, and follow-up work
  • Monitor work quality and efficiency
  • Spot scheduling conflicts and job-site issues before they become bigger problems
  • Step in and assist crews in the field when needed
  • Participate in snow removal, including plowing, shoveling, and salt application
  • Take initiative and find solutions rather than waiting for direction

What We’re Looking For

  • Leadership: Guides a team, holds others accountable, and leads by example
  • Organization: Manages multiple moving parts and keeps crews on track
  • Dependability: Shows up and follows through
  • Problem-solving: Acts without constant supervision
  • Communication: Works well with technicians, office staff, management, and customers
  • Positive attitude: Takes pride in doing things the right way
  • Irrigation knowledge: Installation, troubleshooting, repairs, controllers, valves, and maintenance highly preferred
  • MN driver’s license with DOT medical card (or ability to obtain) REQUIRED
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift/carry 50 lbs frequently

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Irrigation Technician
  • Backflow tester license
  • DNR Lake System Provider / Lake Service Provider license
