Position Overview

The Civil Superintendent is responsible for leading day-to-day field operations on heavy civil construction projects. The ideal candidate is a strong field leader with experience managing self-perform crews and coordinating civil scopes such as mass earthwork, grading, underground utilities, concrete, site development, roadway, drainage, or other infrastructure construction. Successful superintendents understand not only how to build the work, but how to sequence operations, allocate manpower and equipment, identify constraints early, and keep crews productive.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Eastern District specializes in challenging heavy civil construction projects throughout the Northeast, including the metropolitan areas of New York, Chicago, Boston, and Washington DC. We are leaders in bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction while specializing in cast-in-place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. Kiewit’s Eastern District also has a large amount of work in the energy/power sector in various northeast locations. With our experienced and dedicated employees, extensive resources and in-depth market knowledge, the Eastern District can handle projects of any size.

These projects are happening in large cities and small towns, so you have a chance to experience it all!

  • Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with company requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor workmanship and verify construction meets project specifications and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections and corrective work when necessary.
  • Track daily progress, quantities, manpower, equipment usage, and significant jobsite activities.
  • Mentor foremen and field personnel while establishing clear expectations for safety, productivity, accountability, and quality.
