Job Overview:

LIVE·TEAM, part of THE·TEAM, operates at the intersection of sports, entertainment, and culture, delivering branding, signage, fabrication, technical production, and live event experiences at the highest level. We partner with the world’s most iconic events, properties, and brands to bring environments and experiences to life, from global sporting events to large-scale city activations and immersive technical experiences.

We are seeking a Director, Technical Production & Solutions, reporting to the Associate Vice President, Solutions, to lead technical and immersive production solutions across LIVE·TEAM’s North American business. This role will translate client ideas and creative concepts into technically feasible, commercially viable experiences, including projection mapping, LED, lighting, drone shows, water experiences, interactive technologies, and other emerging capabilities.

What You’ll Do:

The Director, Technical Production & Solutions serves as LIVE·TEAM’s technical production subject matter expert and execution lead, translating client objectives and creative concepts into feasible, commercially viable solutions and leading the technical workstream through successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Solutions & Ideation
  • Meet with internal teams and clients to understand the vision, objectives, audience, environment, budget, and desired experience, then translate those inputs into practical technical solutions and production approaches.
  • Translate client objectives and creative concepts into technically feasible, commercially viable production solutions across projection mapping, LED, lighting, drones, water experiences, interactive technologies, and emerging capabilities.
  • Assess venues and event environments to identify technical opportunities, infrastructure requirements, site constraints, permitting considerations, risks, and execution requirements.
  • Develop technical approaches, scopes, schedules, assumptions, budgets, and production plans to support pitches, proposals, and awarded projects.
  • Partner with Sales, Solutions, Design, and Creative teams to develop compelling technical concepts and clearly communicate solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Source, select, negotiate with, and manage specialist technical production partners across North America, ensuring competitive pricing, appropriate scope, and strong execution.
  • Develop and manage technical production budgets, vendor costs, change orders, and commercial considerations to protect project profitability and margin.
  • Own the technical production workstream from approved concept through planning, installation, testing, show operation, and removal.
  • Coordinate technical vendors, equipment, engineering, infrastructure, content requirements, and site needs in partnership with Project Management, Production, Fabrication, and Installation teams.
  • Provide on-site technical leadership for complex installations and live activations, ensuring quality, safety, schedule, budget, and show readiness.
  • Serve as LIVE·TEAM’s technical production subject matter expert, bringing new technologies, partners, capabilities, and best practices into the business.

What We're Looking For:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 7 -10+ years of experience in technical production, experiential production, live events, immersive experiences, entertainment technology, or a related field.
  • Experience developing and delivering complex technical activations such as projection mapping, large-format LED, architectural or show lighting, drone shows, multimedia experiences, or similar large-scale productions.
  • Strong understanding of translating creative concepts and client objectives into technically feasible production solutions.
  • Proven experience managing specialist production vendors, subcontractors, and external technical partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical approaches, scopes, pricing, schedules, and production risk.
  • Strong commercial and financial experience, including estimating, budgeting, vendor negotiations, change management, and margin management.
  • Experience conducting site surveys and identifying technical, logistical, infrastructure, permitting, and operational requirements.
  • Working knowledge of permitting, safety, engineering, venue, municipal, aviation, or other regulatory considerations associated with live technical production.
  • Experience working on high-profile sports, entertainment, brand, cultural, or large-scale public events strongly preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong technical production judgment with the ability to evaluate feasibility and determine the appropriate solution without needing to personally operate every technical discipline.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to clients, creative teams, sales teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation, budgeting, and commercial decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional organization, prioritization, problem-solving, and project execution capability.
  • Ability to balance creative ambition, technical feasibility, schedule, cost, safety, and client expectations.
  • High level of accountability, ownership, judgment, and follow-through.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively across functions and external partners.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and solving complex challenges in fast-moving live production environments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout North America and work on-site during installations and live events as required.

What We Offer:

  • Professional Development: Take advantage of our learning and development programs, mentorship opportunities, and career advancement support.
  • Generous Time Off: Enjoy generous paid time off and holiday allowances to recharge and spend time with loved ones.
  • Parental Leave: We provide paid parental leave to support your family during important life events.
  • Retirement Plan: 401k plan including contribution matching.
  • Healthcare: Medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, life and disability coverage options.
