Vice president, performance marketing

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Vice President, Performance Marketing based in United States.

This is a senior performance marketing leadership role responsible for paid media strategy and P&L across a diverse multi-brand portfolio.

The position will define multi-year investment priorities across search, social, shopping, display, affiliate, video/TV, and emerging channels.

You will build the performance marketing organization, develop agency partnerships, and establish scalable operating standards.

Success will be measured through improved customer acquisition economics, media efficiency, testing velocity, and commercial impact.

The role partners closely with Creative, Merchandising, eCommerce, Product, and Web Development teams to connect paid investment with broader business priorities.

You will also represent performance marketing at the executive level, translating complex data into clear recommendations and growth opportunities.

This is a high-ownership environment suited to a strategic builder who is comfortable moving quickly and making end-to-end decisions.

Accountabilities:

• Own the performance marketing P&L and multi-year paid media strategy across multiple brands and channels, including paid search, paid social, shopping/feed, display, affiliate, video/TV, and emerging platforms.
• Determine channel and budget allocation using incrementality, customer lifetime value, CAC, marginal ROAS, and blended efficiency targets.
• Translate revenue and margin objectives into scalable paid media investment plans and repeatable playbooks for launches, promotions, and seasonal periods.
• Build and lead a high-performing organization of performance marketing leaders and specialists, supported by strategic agency partners.
• Establish operating standards for testing velocity, reporting quality, channel expertise, accountability, and performance management.
• Manage agency relationships and hold external partners accountable for agreed performance benchmarks, media efficiency, and scopes of work.
• Identify and develop new acquisition channels, including hands-on involvement in initial campaign launches and validation.
• Establish a strong experimentation culture through A/B and multivariate testing across creative, landing pages, audiences, and campaign strategies.
• Drive practical adoption of AI and automation tools to improve decision-making, increase productivity, and enable the team to focus on higher-value activities.
• Represent performance marketing in executive strategy and planning discussions and communicate commercial recommendations beyond channel-level metrics.
• Partner with Creative to ensure advertising concepts and assets are designed with performance objectives in mind.
• Collaborate with Merchandising to align paid investment with inventory, margin, and assortment priorities.
• Work with eCommerce, Product, and Web Development teams to optimize landing pages, customer experience, and conversion funnels for paid traffic.
• Identify risks and opportunities early, providing actionable solutions and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Track competitive activity and market trends to identify opportunities across channels, formats, and positioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
• 12+ years of experience in performance marketing or paid media, including at least 5 years managing managers or team leads.
• Proven ownership of significant multi-channel paid media budgets across search, social, shopping/feed, and display.
• Demonstrated experience leading performance marketing across multiple brands or business units simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of performance marketing economics, including CAC, LTV, incrementality, marginal ROAS, and blended efficiency.
• Experience building and leading teams of leaders and managing agency relationships at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to influence Creative, Merchandising, eCommerce, and executive stakeholders without direct authority over their teams.
• Strong executive presence and communication skills, including experience presenting directly to C-suite leaders or participating in executive leadership teams.
• Demonstrated experience applying AI and automation tools to improve marketing decisions, productivity, or team efficiency.
• Hands-on knowledge of major advertising platforms such as Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager.
• Proficiency with analytics and reporting tools such as Google Analytics, Tableau, or Looker Studio.
• Ability to translate complex performance data into clear commercial recommendations and strategic actions.
• Strong strategic thinking, business judgment, ownership, and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience across multiple retail or eCommerce verticals is preferred.
• Experience managing paid media across multiple brands, websites, or storefronts is a plus.
