About the Role
AttainX is seeking a Senior Test Engineer/Analyst to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Financial Systems Modernization (FSM) Robotic Process Automation (RPA) program. This role leads the test strategy and plans, builds, and executes tests that confirm financial automations and Machine Learning (ML) enhancements work correctly, protect data integrity, and meet security and compliance requirements before release. The analyst guides the test team, uses Python, API testing, and automated test frameworks to make testing faster and more repeatable, and provides clear test evidence that supports release decisions and audit readiness.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field is required; equivalent education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
- 10+ years of related experience in software test engineering, verification and validation (V&V), quality assurance, or test automation, including at least 3 years leading test efforts or test teams.
- Demonstrated experience developing test strategies and master test plans, and planning and executing functional, integration, regression, and system-level testing, including writing test plans, test cases, and test procedures.
- Expert-level experience with Python scripting, API testing (e.g., Postman), and designing and expanding automated test frameworks such as Selenium.
- Experience with defect tracking, root-cause analysis, and verifying fixes, using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Experience with requirements-based testing and traceability using tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Jira.
- Strong experience with Agile/Scrum, SDLC, CI/CD pipelines and quality gates (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab), Git, and configuration management.
- Experience defining test metrics and quality gates and presenting test results, risks, and release recommendations to leadership.
- Superior analytical, problem-solving, attention-to-detail, documentation, and communication skills.
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE Public Trust suitability determination.
Job Duties:
- Lead test strategy and planning for the program, including test approach, scope, environments, schedule, and entry/exit criteria; develop and maintain the master test plan.
- Review business requirements, process definitions, and user stories to understand expected behavior and identify testable acceptance criteria.
- Develop test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data for financial automations, ML-enabled workflows, and related integrations.
- Execute functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end tests; record results and maintain verification evidence.
- Design, build, and expand Python-based automated test frameworks and API tests, and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines as quality gates.
- Validate data integrity and accuracy of automated financial transactions, including inputs, outputs, exception handling, and reconciliation results.
- Test ML model integrations for expected outputs, accuracy thresholds, and handling of edge cases and unexpected data.
- Verify that automations meet applicable security and compliance requirements, including NIST SP 800-53 controls, FIPS 140-3 encryption, DHS Directive 4300.1, and FFMIA, in coordination with security personnel.
- Lead defect triage meetings; track defects through resolution, perform root-cause analysis with developers and verify fixes.
- Maintain requirements-to-test traceability and report test coverage, pass/fail rates, and defect trends.
- Lead release-readiness assessments and provide go/no-go recommendations based on test results, defect trends, and risk; support user acceptance testing with Government stakeholders.
- Perform regression testing after system, application, or process changes that may affect production automations.
- Mentor and guide test analysts, review their test artifacts, and promote consistent testing standards and best practices, including AI-assisted testing tools where approved.
- Establish and report test metrics and quality gates, such as coverage, defect escape rates, and test effectiveness, and brief findings to program leadership.
- Prepare test reports, test summaries, and test documentation to support release decisions and audit readiness, while protecting sensitive financial data.
