Job Description

Computer World Services, Corp. (CWS) seeks a Senior Storage / SAN Engineer to support enterprise storage, Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure, data protection, service restoration, component modernization, and continuity-of-operations (COOP) capabilities for the USMEPCOM ENLIST program.

The Storage / SAN Engineer configures and troubleshoots SAN fabrics, storage arrays, Fibre Channel switches, zoning, Fabric Logins, and WWN/PWWN connectivity, and supports performance analysis, capacity management, refreshes, migrations, and integration with server, virtualization, network, cloud, backup, and security platforms. The engineer also supports COOP and disaster-recovery readiness, exercises, failover, backup validation, and service restoration.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Configure, administer, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise SAN fabrics, storage arrays, Fibre Channel switches, domains, ports, aliases, zones, and zone sets.
  • Diagnose and resolve Fabric Login, zoning, name-server, pathing, inter-switch-link, and WWN/PWWN connectivity issues across storage, servers, appliances, and virtualization platforms.
  • Support single-initiator zoning, multi-fabric designs, multipathing, HBAs, and high-availability configurations; configure volumes, LUNs, pools, tiers, snapshots, replication, masking, and host access.
  • Integrate storage with physical and virtual servers, VMware, backup platforms, databases, and cloud services using Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, SMB, or other approved protocols.
  • Monitor storage availability, capacity, latency, IOPS, throughput, and health; diagnose performance bottlenecks and develop capacity forecasts and expansion or refresh recommendations.
  • Participate in Outage Response Team activities, providing diagnosis, mitigation, recovery, and service validation; collect evidence for root-cause analysis and coordinate vendor escalation.
  • Plan and execute storage-array, SAN-switch, firmware, and software refreshes, data migrations, and non-disruptive cutovers with implementation, validation, and rollback procedures.
  • Maintain storage asset, configuration, warranty, licensing, and lifecycle records, and support inventory audits and disposition.
  • Configure and test backup, restoration, replication, failover, failback, and disaster-recovery capabilities; support quarterly COOP exercises, COOP activation, and multi-year continuity testing procedures.
  • Apply approved patches and configurations in accordance with DISA STIGs, and support remediation of vulnerabilities, IAVAs, CND Directives, and POA&M items.
  • Maintain SAN diagrams, zoning records, configuration baselines, capacity plans, recovery procedures, and SOPs, and recommend improvements to availability, performance, and recoverability.

Education & Experience

Required:
Bachelor’s degree or a relevant technical degree.
Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant storage engineering, SAN administration, systems engineering, data-center infrastructure, or enterprise IT experience.
Demonstrated experience configuring and troubleshooting SAN fabrics, storage arrays, switches, zoning, Fabric Logins, and WWN/PWWN connectivity.

Preferred:
Experience supporting enterprise storage or SAN infrastructure in a federal or DoD environment.
Experience with Dell Technologies, NetApp, Pure Storage, HPE, IBM, Hitachi, or comparable storage platforms, and Brocade, Cisco MDS, or comparable Fibre Channel switching.
Experience integrating storage with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, Microsoft, Linux, database, backup, and cloud platforms.
Experience supporting COOP or disaster-recovery exercises involving physically separated data centers.
Experience planning storage refreshes, data migrations, array replacements, and SAN cutovers.
Experience applying DISA STIGs and supporting DoD RMF, ATO, IAVA, CND Directive, and POA&M requirements.

Certifications

Required: None.
Preferred: Storage or infrastructure certifications from Dell Technologies, NetApp, Pure Storage, HPE, IBM, Hitachi, Brocade, Cisco, or VMware; CompTIA Server+; SNIA certification; ITIL Foundation; or equivalent credentials.
