Chenega Enterprise Systems & Solutions, LLC, a Chenega Professional Services company, is seeking a Statistician II to support the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by providing statistical and analytical support for public health surveillance, epidemiological studies, survey research, and program evaluation activities. The successful candidate will apply biostatistical methods to analyze public health data, support study design efforts, assist in the interpretation of findings, and contribute to scientific research and evidence-based public health decision-making.

Work Location:

  • The work under this position will be performed primarily in a telework environment, and/or with onsite support provided at CDC facilities as required and directed by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
  • Personnel must be available during standard business hours and accessible via telephone, email, and virtual collaboration platforms.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support meetings, conferences, training events, or other project-related activities, as authorized by the COR.

Responsibilities

  • Provide statistical and analytical support for public health surveillance, epidemiologic studies, program evaluations, and research initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of survey designs, sampling methodologies, weighting procedures, and statistical analysis plans.
  • Perform statistical analyses of surveillance, survey, healthcare, and population-based datasets using established statistical methods and software tools.
  • Support sample size calculations, power analyses, and statistical modeling activities under the guidance of senior statisticians and project leadership.
  • Develop, maintain, and validate statistical programming code and automated analytical processes using SAS, R, SUDAAN, STATA, or other approved software.
  • Assist in cleaning, validating, and analyzing complex datasets to ensure data quality and analytical accuracy.
  • Collaborate with epidemiologists, researchers, analysts, and program staff to support study implementation and data analysis efforts.
  • Prepare statistical summaries, technical reports, presentations, tables, graphs, and analytical products for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of scientific manuscripts, reports, and presentations by providing statistical analyses and methodological support.
  • Participate in methodological discussions and provide recommendations regarding data analysis approaches and interpretation of results.
  • Support quality assurance and validation activities related to statistical analyses, survey methodologies, and analytical products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Public Health, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting statistical analysis, public health research, epidemiologic studies, healthcare analytics, or survey research activities.
  • Experience applying statistical methods to public health, healthcare, clinical, survey, or epidemiologic datasets.
  • Experience using statistical software such as SAS, R, STATA, SUDAAN, or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience conducting descriptive, inferential, regression, and survey data analyses.
  • Knowledge of statistical principles, study design, and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting CDC, HHS, NIH, academic research programs, healthcare organizations, or public health agencies.
  • Experience analyzing public health surveillance, survey, healthcare utilization, claims, or electronic health record datasets.
  • Experience working with complex survey data and sampling methodologies.
  • Experience contributing to scientific manuscripts, conference presentations, or technical reports.
  • Familiarity with NHANES, NHIS, BRFSS, Vital Statistics, or similar public health datasets.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of biostatistical methods, quantitative research methodologies, and epidemiologic study designs.
  • Proficiency in SAS, R, STATA, SUDAAN, or similar statistical software packages.
  • Knowledge of regression analysis, hypothesis testing, survey statistics, descriptive statistics, and multivariate analytical methods.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize healthcare, surveillance, and population-based datasets.
  • Experience developing statistical tables, figures, reports, and presentations.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to scientific accuracy and data integrity.
