Job Description

Enovation Controls is a turnkey technology company that solves complex problems and delivers innovative solutions. People who find their place here tend to stay. Many of our team members have decades of tenure, evidence of a culture where people feel valued and want to build a career. We’re proud to be recognized by Great Place to Work as one of the Best Workplaces in Manufacturing & Production for seven consecutive years and recognized for Top U.S. Benefits by Mployer Advisor. This recognition comes directly from employee feedback, not marketing, and reflects a workplace where people feel trusted, supported, and empowered. We live our core values every day in a collaborative, high-performance environment that balances complex technical work with real camaraderie, accessible leadership, and traditions that bring teams together.

Description

We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Software Engineer who brings deep Bluetooth protocol expertise, takes ownership of complex technical problems, and partners across software, architecture, product, and project teams to deliver robust solutions. This is a software-centric role focused on implementing and extending Bluetooth features across Classic (BR/EDR) and Low Energy (BLE) profiles on embedded Linux, while maintaining support for a legacy QNX 6.6 platform.

Our primary Bluetooth stack is BlueZ on Linux, with an application layer built in C# on .NET. You’ll work across C#, C, and C++ and lead new Bluetooth development on Linux while supporting our legacy QNX 6.6 platform using Searan’s HCI stack on the QNX 6.6 armv7-le platform. The role requires the ability to work at the protocol and stack level, troubleshoot complex issues, and, when needed, read and modify the underlying Bluetooth stack.

What you’ll lead and own

  • Bluetooth Features & Platform Support
    • Design, implement, and maintain Bluetooth profile features across Classic (BR/EDR) and BLE on embedded Linux using BlueZ and GCC ARM.
    • Maintain feature parity and support across the legacy QNX 6.6 armv7-le platform using Searan’s HCI stack.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve Bluetooth issues at the protocol and stack level, not just at the application layer.
  • Software Architecture & Development
    • Design and implement robust, maintainable software components using C# on .NET and C/C++ for lower-level stack integration and legacy platform support.
    • Contribute to the design of system modules and partner with Software Architects to develop scalable solutions for the Enovation Control Platform Software.
    • Apply and promote Software and Enovation Best Practices to strengthen code quality, maintainability, and development efficiency.
  • Roadmap, Delivery & Collaboration
    • Partner with the Bluetooth Team Lead to develop and maintain the Bluetooth feature roadmap across a monthly release cadence using Azure DevOps SCRUM.
    • Accurately estimate work, provide technical insight, and collaborate with Project and Product Management to align development efforts with business objectives.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs and technical requirements into reliable software solutions.
  • Engineering Excellence & Continuous Improvement
    • Identify and advocate for software, development, and tooling improvements that support customer use cases and strategic goals.
    • Expand static analysis coverage on the Linux platform to improve code quality and reduce technical risk.
    • Mentor Software Engineers through knowledge-sharing, technical guidance, and practical application of engineering best practices.
    • Stay current with Bluetooth technologies, software development practices, and industry trends to bring new ideas and capabilities to the team.

Requirements

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Hands-on experience with an embedded or RTOS-based Bluetooth protocol stack at the HCI, L2CAP, RFCOMM, or profile-implementation level (e.g., BlueZ on Linux, SEARAN dotstack, BlueKitchen BTstack, Zephyr Bluetooth, or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of Bluetooth Classic (BR/EDR) profiles, including A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, PBAP, MAP, and SPP, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
  • Strong proficiency in C# on .NET as the primary application language, along with C/C++ for stack integration and legacy platform support.
  • Experience with embedded Linux development, including Yocto or equivalent, and cross-compilation toolchains such as GCC ARM.
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM development methodologies.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills at the protocol and stack level.

Preferred

  • Experience working with multiple Bluetooth stacks and applying a cross-platform perspective to resolve stack-level limitations.
  • Depth in BlueZ sufficient to read, trace, and modify stack source code directly.
  • Familiarity with QNX RTOS, particularly QNX 6.6 on armv7-le.
  • Experience with BLE Audio (LE Audio / LC3).
  • Experience with D-Bus and Linux inter-process communication patterns relevant to BlueZ integration.
  • Familiarity with Yocto Project / OpenEmbedded build systems.
  • Experience expanding static analysis coverage on Linux C/C++ codebases using tools such as cppcheck, clang-tidy, or equivalent.
  • Background with mobile platforms (iOS/Android) for Bluetooth testing and protocol-level diagnostics.
