Job Description:

Salary Range: $160,000 - $220,000 per year.

About the Role

TaskUs partners with the world's most innovative technology companies to power the data, safety, and human-in-the-loop operations behind AI. As autonomous driving and robotics programs move from pilots to commercial scale, our clients need a delivery partner that can run safety-critical operations around the clock with the rigor of an AV operator and the scale and agility of a leading BPO.

We are seeking a senior operator to build and lead our AV and Robotics Operations business. You will own end-to-end delivery, from perception data labeling and scenario QA to remote assistance, teleoperation, fleet support, and incident response, for leading autonomous vehicle and robotics customers. You will set the operating model, build the leadership bench, and be accountable for client outcomes, quality, safety, and P&L.

What You Will Do

  • Own delivery and P&L. Lead multi-site, multi-client AV and robotics programs with full accountability for revenue growth, gross margin, utilization, and client satisfaction.
  • Build the operating model. Design scalable, 24/7 workflows for remote assistance, teleoperation, fleet and depot support, data collection, annotation, simulation and scenario review, and edge-case triage.
  • Drive safety and quality. Establish safety-case-aligned processes, incident management, root-cause analysis, and audit readiness (e.g., ISO 26262, SOTIF/ISO 21448, UL 4600, ISO 3691-4 and relevant ANSI/RIA standards as applicable).
  • Partner with customers. Act as executive sponsor for strategic AV and robotics accounts; run QBRs, shape roadmaps, and translate evolving ODD, model, and fleet requirements into staffing, tooling, and process plans.
  • Scale talent. Recruit, train, and certify remote operators, fleet technicians, annotators, QA leads, and program managers; define career paths, competency frameworks, and fatigue and wellness standards for safety-critical roles.
  • Lead through technology and AI. Embed automation, ML-assisted labeling, tooling, and analytics to improve cost per task, latency, and accuracy; collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Security on platforms and integrations.
  • Expand the business. Partner with Sales, Solutions, and Strategy to develop new offerings (e.g., teleoperation-as-a-service, robotics data collection, humanoid and warehouse robotics support), pricing models, and go-to-market plans.
  • Manage risk and compliance. Ensure data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions; maintain business continuity and surge capacity plans.
  • Lead the organization. Manage a global team of directors, program leaders, and site leads across onshore, nearshore, and offshore locations.

What You Bring

  • 12+ years of operations leadership (15+ for VP), including 5+ years in autonomous vehicles, robotics, mobility, logistics automation, or other safety-critical, technology-driven operations.
  • Direct experience running remote assistance, teleoperation, fleet operations, or AV/robotics data operations, ideally at an AV operator (robotaxi or trucking), robotics company, or technology-enabled BPO.
  • Proven record of scaling operations from pilot to commercial deployment, with measurable improvements in safety, quality, cost, and throughput.
  • P&L ownership of a business of $50M+ (more for VP), with strong command of pricing, workforce planning, and unit economics.
  • Experience leading large, distributed workforces (500+) across multiple sites and geographies, including 24/7 shift operations.
  • Working knowledge of safety frameworks, incident response, and regulatory environments for autonomous systems.
  • Executive presence with technical customers; ability to engage credibly with engineering, safety, and product leaders.
  • Data-driven leadership style with fluency in operational metrics, SLAs, and continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma a plus).
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with AV and robotics data pipelines: sensor data (LiDAR, camera, radar), HD maps, scenario libraries, simulation, and labeling tools.
  • Experience with humanoid, warehouse, or last-mile delivery robotics operations.
  • Background in BPO or managed services, including client transitions, vendor management, and global delivery.
  • Experience with M&A integration or building a new business line inside a larger enterprise.
  • Preferred location San Antonio.

Success Measures (First 12–18 Months)

  • Operating model, governance, and safety framework defined and adopted across all AV and robotics programs.
  • Leadership team in place; critical roles staffed and certified ahead of client ramps.
  • Target SLA, quality, and safety KPIs achieved on strategic accounts, with strong client NPS.
  • Revenue growth and margin goals met; at least [X] new logo or service-line wins.
