The Software Developer 2 is a fully qualified IT professional responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining software applications and systems. This position works in a highly agile environment and may support multiple applications simultaneously while maintaining the Laboratory's security requirements and development standards. The Software Developer 2 applies established software development principles and specialized technical knowledge to resolve a variety of complex problems and develop effective solutions. The position works with limited direction, exercises independent judgment in selecting development methods and techniques, and plans and manages assigned activities to accomplish project objectives.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java and the Spring Framework, along with knowledge of Angular and MySQL. The position requires a commitment to quality software development practices, including test-driven development (TDD). Flexible to be 100% onsite; or remote with onsite travel when needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong professional experience developing software applications using Java.
• Strong experience with the Spring Framework.
• Experience developing and maintaining enterprise or web-based applications.
• Experience with Angular or similar modern web application frameworks.
• Experience with MySQL and relational database development.
• Experience with software development methodologies, processes, and best practices.
• Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and software testing practices.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective software solutions.
• Ability to work effectively in a highly agile environment and manage multiple application development efforts or assignments.
• Ability to work independently with limited direction and exercise sound judgment when determining approaches to technical problems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with developers, customers, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to understand and comply with Laboratory information technology, cybersecurity, and security requirements.
