PURPOSE: CareFirst is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for ERP Procurement Systems to own, enhance, integrate, and support the technology that enables source-to-pay and procure-to-pay operations. The immediate focus is the current production landscape, including SAP Ariba, Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), supplier connectivity, catalogs, purchasing, invoicing, and downstream financial integrations. This role is intentionally platform flexible. The engineer will improve reliability and business value today while helping create reusable integration, data, documentation, and control foundations for a future cloud ERP program that may include Workday, Oracle Cloud ERP, or another selected platform. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on engineering with procurement-process expertise and influence the long-term roadmap without requiring a predetermined implementation date.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Position does not have direct reports but is expected to guide and mentor less experienced staff and may coordinate matrixed resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Strong analytical and problem-solving ability to evaluate existing systems and propose scalable, supportable solutions. Ability to translate between business process, functional requirements, data, integrations, and technical design. Experience integrating complex enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs, XML/JSON, SFTP, middleware, and batch or event-driven patterns. Knowledge and understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), Agile delivery, release management, CI/CD, testing, and code-quality practices. Working knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure and database technologies such as SQL and Oracle. Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, stakeholder-management, and customer-service skills. Ability to manage competing priorities, meet established deadlines, and provide effective service to internal and external customers. Familiarity with security, segregation of duties, audit controls, and data governance in a regulated environment.
Salary Range: $98,784 - $196,196
