Senior product manager - mv switchgear

Eaton’s Electrical Sector, Power Distribution & Controls Assembly (PDCA) Division is seeking a Medium Voltage Switchgear (MV SWGR) Sr. Product Manager. The role is preferred to be based in Greenwood, South Carolina and relocation is available. Remote work may also be available to those candidates in the US willing to work Eastern standard time business hours. Travel up to 40% will be required.

Reporting to the Product Line Manager, this position leads product line strategy and action programs to drive profitable growth, strengthen market position, and advance the medium voltage switchgear portfolio. The Product Manager will lead two Associate Product Managers. The Product Manager will translate customer and market needs into portfolio priorities, product roadmaps, new product development programs, commercial plans, and effective launches. The role interfaces broadly with sales, engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, marketing, channel partners, consultants, contractors, OEMs, and customers. Success requires both strong business leadership and a practical understanding of engineered medium voltage power distribution solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and execute the MV SWGR product line strategy, growth plans, annual priorities, and portfolio actions to improve sales, profitability, and market position.
• Own the product roadmap and lifecycle strategy, using Voice of Customer, market analysis, competitive intelligence, technology trends, and business performance to set priorities.
• Lead new product development and product or service launches through Eaton’s ProLaunch process, including business case development, value proposition, launch planning, commercialization, and post-launch performance review.
• Provide leadership for the MV SWGR global product portfolio of Metal-Enclosed, Metal-Clad, and Gas-Insulated (Primary and Secondary RMU) Switchgear.
• Drive product positioning, pricing strategy, margin improvement, portfolio simplification, and new business development for priority segments.
• Serve as a product and application resource for field sales, customers, consultants, OEMs, contractors, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
• Develop customer and technical presentations, sales tools, training programs, product literature, digital content, and other enablement materials.
• Coordinate cross-functional product line programs to improve customer experience, market penetration, quality, delivery performance, and operational execution.
• Partner with engineering and operations to evaluate product enhancements, standard change, cost-out opportunities, supply risks, and manufacturability needs.
• Monitor orders, sales, margin, market activity, and new product performance; deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual business updates with clear actions and ownership.
• Represent the product line in customer visits, industry events, advisory boards, standards discussions, and internal strategy reviews.
• Demonstrate leadership within the department and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in product management, applications engineering, sales engineering, engineering, or a related role within the electrical industry.
• Experience with engineered electrical products, power distribution equipment, or related industrial solutions.
• Ability to travel up to 40%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, marketing, business, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with medium voltage switchgear or industrial power distribution equipment.
• Experience developing product roadmaps, business cases, pricing strategies, and new product launch plans.
• Knowledge of utility, data center, industrial, commercial, contractor, consultant, OEM, and channel market dynamics.
• Knowledge of applicable ANSI, IEEE, UL, IEC, and NEMA standards.
• Experience with Eaton ProLaunch, Lean Six Sigma, or comparable product development and continuous improvement processes.

• Working knowledge of medium voltage applications and engineered-to-order products.
• Ability to lead, align, and motivate cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
• Strong analytical, project management, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and customer-facing communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and move effectively between strategic and tactical work.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools and comfort using data to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $146000 - $215000 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
