Your role
We’re looking for a Product Manager to lead Financial Services Ops, the squad that turns compliance, risk, and operational needs into product. Your internal customers are the Compliance, Operations, Risk, and Fraud teams that keep Spendesk’s payment licence running, together with the four Financial Services squads building cards, wallets, and transfers for end customers.
Today, those teams pull product and engineering time from across Financial Services. A regulatory change, a manual operational workload, or a risk alert can become a new P0 on another squad’s roadmap. Your role is to absorb that demand, turn it into one prioritised backlog, and build the tools and workflows that help compliance and operations scale without slowing the rest of Financial Services down.
The squad already owns KYC and AML, including company onboarding, representative verification, ongoing transaction monitoring, and the migration of our transaction monitoring system. The scope is broader than KYC and AML: you will own the internal platform between Spendesk’s regulated entity and the products built on top of it.
What you’ll own
- Onboarding and KYC: company and representative verification, document collection, and time-to-activation.
- AML and monitoring: transaction monitoring, alert handling, and the transaction monitoring system migration.
- Operations tooling: back-office tools, case management, and dashboards that replace manual work.
- Risk and fraud controls: controls, limits, and the signals Risk and Fraud teams need to act.
- Regulatory intake: one entry point and one priority order for regulatory and operational requests across Compliance, Legal, and the Financial Services squads.
- Infrastructure vendors: identity verification, monitoring, and BaaS partners across the EU, UK, and US.
What you’ll do
- Define the platform strategy and roadmap so it serves Financial Services business goals and regulatory obligations.
- Replace the current competing-P0 model with a single intake and prioritised backlog agreed by Compliance, Operations, and the Financial Services squads.
- Rebuild company onboarding to reduce time-to-activation, improve document completion, and remove manual rework.
- Lead the transaction monitoring system migration with Engineering and Compliance.
- Build internal tools and dashboards that help Operations scale without adding headcount at the same pace.
- Define and instrument metrics that do not exist yet, including time-to-activation, file completeness at KYC entry, cost per manual case, straight-through processing rate, and engineering time spent on internal requests outside your squad.
- Act as the bridge between Product and Compliance, so regulation is designed in rather than patched later.
- Evaluate and manage identity, monitoring, and infrastructure vendors.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of Product Management experience, ideally in fintech, payments, banking, or another regulated environment.
- Experience building products for internal users, such as back-office, operations tooling, platform, or infrastructure products.
- Comfort working with regulation. You do not need to be a lawyer, but PSD2, AML directives, compliance policies, and conversations with an MLRO should be familiar territory.
- Analytical rigour: you define success metrics, instrument what is not measured yet, and use evidence to prioritise.
- Clear, natural communication. You can explain a regulation in plain language, build trust with Compliance, Operations, and Engineering, and negotiate scope without losing substance.
- The resilience to work effectively in a changing environment with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with KYC, KYB, AML, or transaction monitoring.
- Experience owning onboarding or identity verification flows with measurable outcomes.
- Experience leading a vendor migration or infrastructure integration, such as a BaaS, card processor, or monitoring provider integration.
- Experience working across EU, UK, and US regulatory contexts.
- Fluency in French or Spanish.
