This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel, Product based in United States.

This role serves as a senior legal partner to Product and Engineering teams throughout the full product development lifecycle. You will advise on complex legal questions involving data, AI/ML, intellectual property, privacy, and emerging technology regulations. The position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to translate legal requirements into practical guidance that supports product momentum. You will work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, Privacy Counsel, and go-to-market teams. Your work will help shape products that process sensitive information across multiple jurisdictions and customer environments. This is an opportunity for an experienced technology lawyer to contribute to novel, high-impact legal and product challenges in a fast-moving environment.

Accountabilities:

• Serve as a primary legal partner to Product and Engineering, advising on product decisions from conception through launch.
• Advise data and blockchain intelligence teams on data collection, sourcing, licensing, and permissible use of first- and third-party data.
• Counsel teams on AI/ML development and deployment, including model training, data inputs and outputs, transparency, and emerging AI regulations.
• Provide guidance on product-related intellectual property matters, including ownership, licensing, and open-source software.
• Draft and refine product-facing legal terms, including terms of service, acceptable use policies, data terms, and customer documentation.
• Partner with Privacy Counsel on privacy and data-protection implications of product specifications, technical architectures, and data flows.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and recommend practical mitigations that support continued product development.
• Build scalable legal frameworks, playbooks, and self-service resources that enable teams to operate with greater legal clarity.
• Collaborate with the broader Legal team on regulatory matters, commercial agreements, and strategic projects.
• Build strong relationships with Product and Engineering leadership and become a trusted advisor throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements:

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 6–8 years of legal experience at a reputable law firm and/or in-house at a technology company, with substantial product counseling experience.
• Demonstrated experience advising Product and Engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle, ideally for data-intensive or AI-powered products.
• Working knowledge of technology product issues including data use and licensing, intellectual property, AI/ML, consumer-facing terms, and privacy frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA/CPRA.
• Strong commercial judgment and the ability to provide practical legal advice that helps teams make informed business decisions.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, cross-jurisdictional matters, competing priorities, and tight deadlines with limited supervision.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts for technical and non-legal stakeholders.
• Executive presence and confidence engaging senior leaders, external partners, and outside counsel.
• Comfort using AI tools and incorporating them into legal workflows.
• Experience supporting businesses serving government or financial institution customers is a plus.
• Familiarity with blockchain, cryptocurrency, or fintech is a plus but not required.

Benefits:

• Estimated base salary of $193,333–$215,000 USD.
