Career Summary:

The American Nurses Enterprise (ANE) is seeking an accomplished Senior Director, Procurement to establish and lead its enterprise-wide procurement function and manage a team of at least two direct reports. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this leader will shape ANE’s procurement strategy, governance framework, operating model, and capabilities to optimize organizational spending, enhance supplier performance, advance strategic sourcing, and strengthen contract lifecycle management. As ANE’s senior procurement advisor, this role will partner closely with executive leadership, Finance, Legal, IT, and business leaders to ensure procurement decisions support organizational priorities, financial objectives, risk requirements, and long-term strategy.

As the founding leader of this function, the Senior Director will evaluate ANE’s current procurement landscape, implement scalable processes and controls, define the capabilities and future staffing model needed for success, and expand the Procurement team as organizational needs evolve. This leader will guide the procurement transformation from strategy through execution, building sustainable enterprise capabilities that increase value, transparency, consistency, risk management, and stakeholder satisfaction.

What You Will Do:

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute an enterprise-wide procurement strategy aligned with organizational priorities, financial objectives, risk appetite, and long-term plans.
• Establish the Procurement function and determine the appropriate organizational structure, capabilities, roles, and staffing model as the function matures; recruit, lead, mentor, and develop the team.
• Design and establish the enterprise procurement operating model, policies, standards, delegated authority, sourcing protocols, contract management practices, governance frameworks, and escalation processes.
• Serve as the principal procurement advisor to the CFO, executive leadership, and business stakeholders on enterprise sourcing strategy, complex commercial matters, supplier strategy, procurement risk, and major procurement decisions.
• Establish enterprise procurement KPIs and executive reporting, including spend visibility, sourcing activity, cycle time, supplier performance, cost savings, cost avoidance, value realization, compliance, and other measures of procurement effectiveness.

Procurement Operations and Stakeholder Collaboration

• Lead the end-to-end enterprise procurement lifecycle, including demand planning, sourcing strategy, competitive solicitations, supplier evaluation, commercial negotiations, contract award, supplier performance, renewals, and close-out.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, IT, program leadership, and other enterprise stakeholders to establish procurement priorities, advise on sourcing approaches, and align procurement decisions with business, financial, legal, technology, and risk requirements.
• Establish enterprise visibility and controls for key commercial terms, obligations, milestones, renewal dates, pricing provisions, service levels, supplier commitments, and termination rights.
• Develop scalable sourcing and contracting playbooks, approval processes, templates, and contract lifecycle practices in partnership with Legal and other stakeholders.

Financial Planning

• Partner with the CFO and Finance leadership to align enterprise procurement strategy, sourcing priorities, supplier commitments, and procurement opportunities with organizational budgets and long-term financial objectives.
• Develop and maintain an enterprise value pipeline that identifies, measures, and reports opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance, demand optimization, improved commercial terms, risk reduction, and increased supplier value.

Risk Management

• Establish an enterprise approach to identifying and mitigating procurement and third-party risks, including supplier concentration, service disruption, cost volatility, compliance, operational, financial, and commercial risks.
• Partner with Legal and appropriate stakeholders to ensure procurement processes and agreements operate within organizational policies, regulatory requirements, delegated authority, and applicable legal and contractual standards.
• Develop supplier risk, contingency, and continuity strategies for critical procurement relationships and services.
• Establish appropriate enterprise procurement controls for approvals, delegated authority, supplier obligations, insurance, data protection, audit rights, and other material third-party risks.
• Ensure procurement documentation, sourcing decisions, approvals, contracts, and supplier records are maintained to support transparency, audit readiness, and organizational accountability.

People Leadership

• Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Procurement organization as the function grows.
• Assess workload and capability needs and establish clear roles, decision rights, responsibilities, performance expectations, and development opportunities for the Procurement team.
• Build trusted partnerships across the Enterprise and position Procurement as a strategic business partner that enables organizational objectives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, commercial discipline, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer service.

What You Bring to the American Nurses Enterprise:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, procurement, economics, finance, law, or a related discipline.

Related Work Experience

• At least 15 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field, including at least five years in a leadership role.
• Proven success developing and executing enterprise procurement and strategic sourcing strategies within a complex, highly regulated, or highly matrixed environment.
• Strong understanding of contract lifecycle management, procurement processes, supplier governance, and commercial risk.
• Experience partnering effectively with Legal, Finance, IT, and other senior business leaders.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and team-building capability, including experience establishing, scaling, or transforming a procurement, sourcing, or contract management function.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Experience leading the selection, implementation, optimization, or governance of CLM, ERP, e-sourcing, spend analytics, or other procurement technology platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to influence executive and cross-functional stakeholders and lead enterprise change without relying solely on formal authority.
• Experience developing procurement performance measures, spend visibility, savings/value methodologies, supplier governance, and executive reporting.

Work Schedule:

Employees are considered Remote if they are regularly scheduled to work 100% of their work week at a location other than an ANA Enterprise office and may occasionally be required to work from an ANA Enterprise Office.
