Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Accounting, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, complex journal entries, intercompany transactions, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable reporting, and daily cash management for Clearway Health. The role plays a key part in the month-end and year-end close processes, proactively identifying improvements and efficiencies. Responsibilities also include capital expenditure and WIP/JIP accounting, appropriate classification of expenditures as capital or expense, and oversight of the company’s tax obligations, including sales tax, income tax, business licenses, and annual reporting requirements. The Senior Accountant assists with the annual audit, trains and mentors new accountants, and acts as the Subject Matter Expert within the Accounting department. This is an execution-focused, non-managerial role.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

General Ledger & Month-End Close

• Take ownership of day-to-day general ledger responsibilities and all aspects of the month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, cash receipts recording, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare and review accounting entries posted to the general ledger to ensure proper accounting of expenses and revenue; extract and analyze data to prepare monthly financial statements, comparative reports, and account reconciliations.
• Perform monthly general ledger account analysis and reconciliation for assigned accounts (cash, other accounts receivable, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accrued expenses, etc.) and maintain and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Support the Senior Manager, Accounting by coordinating adherence to the month-end close calendar—monitoring deadlines, resolving issues with the relevant parties, and escalating problems in a timely manner.
• Perform daily cash management activities and reconcile bank statements for the department.
• Develop and implement accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

Audit, Tax & Capital Accounting

• Assist with preparation of the annual audit package, including footnotes and all related analyses, and support timely completion of the audit.
• Prepare and file Clearway Health’s tax returns (IRS Forms 990, 990-T, 1120-F, 4720 and applicable state returns), quarterly state sales and use tax returns, and annual exemption requests; prepare federal, state, and regulatory reports as needed.
• Ensure accounting procedures comply with relevant tax legislation, regulations, and internal controls.
• Assist with the capital approval and consolidated accounting processes, including appropriate classification of expenditures as capital or expense.
• Manage capital spending accounting for WIP/JIP (works in progress / jobs in progress); determine and manage the closing of final fixed asset accounts with appropriate useful lives.

Reporting, Analysis & Collaboration

• Support FP&A and the Senior Leadership team with financial reporting, performance, and variance analysis.
• Develop and oversee the accounts receivable package for the Senior Leadership team.
• Summarize balance sheets and reports for senior leadership and offer suggestions on resource utilization and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
• Strategically analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future operational needs and expenses.
• Mentor and lead the training of new employees in general accounting policies and procedures; complete complex special projects and financial analysis as needed.
• Promote open communication, team building, and collaboration among team members and between departments, utilizing Clearway’s High-5 values—Collaboration, Curiosity, Optimism, Respect, and Excellence—as the basis for decision-making.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required with a major or concentration in Finance, Business Management or Accounting preferred. Masters or CPA are strongly preferred. 3 Years equivalent additional work experience considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Certificates, Licenses or Registrations:

Master’s degree or CPA preferred, but not required (in lieu of applicable work experience)

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of financial/accounting experience; up to two (2) years may be waived for candidates with a master’s degree or CPA. Managed services and/or healthcare or pharmacy-related experience preferred. Experience with a large enterprise accounting and general ledger system such as Infor. Experience supporting annual audits and preparing federal and state tax filings preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Solid working knowledge of US GAAP and strong analytical skills.
• Experience with large enterprise accounting and general ledger systems such as Infor.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
• Knowledge of auditing standards, regulatory requirements, and the healthcare industry preferred.
• Exceptionally organized, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet time-sensitive.
• Accounting judgment – Ability to apply US GAAP to complex journal entries, reconciliations, and capital-versus-expense classification decisions.
• Ownership and accountability – Ability to independently own day-to-day general ledger work and all aspects of month-end and year-end close within a lean team.
• Communication – Strong oral and written communication skills to interact with all levels of personnel within and outside the organization.
• Confidentiality and integrity – Proven ability to work with and maintain confidential financial information.

Special Working Conditions (On-call, travel, shift, coverage):

This position may require up to 10% annual travel.

This information is being provided to promote pay transparency and equal employment opportunities at Clearway Health. The current annual compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $93,000. The actual rate within this range that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant factors. In addition to a competitive base salary, this role is eligible to participate in the company’s bonus program as part of its comprehensive and rewarding benefits package.
