Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Own account relationships
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for independent pet retailers and distributor partners.
  • Build strong working relationships with store owners, buyers, and distributor category teams.
  • Respond to requests promptly and keep account records, contacts, and pricing current.
  • Monitor advertised pricing for compliance with our MAP policy and address/escalate violations.
  • Manage orders end to end
  • Receive, enter, and process purchase orders from independent retailers, distributors, and wholesale platforms such as Faire.
  • Coordinate with logistics and fulfillment to confirm inventory, ship dates, and delivery.
  • Communicate order status, backorders, and delays to accounts proactively.
  • Partner with finance on accurate, timely invoicing and follow up on open and past due balances.
  • Run promotions and billbacks
  • Set up and manage promotional programs with distributors and independent accounts.
  • Maintain the promotional calendar and communicate offers ahead of each promo window.
  • Process, reconcile, and validate distributor billbacks, deductions, and chargebacks.
  • Track promotional spend against budget with finance.
  • Grow the channel
  • Conduct outreach to prospective independent pet retailers and distributors.
  • Follow up on inbound wholesale inquiries and convert them into active accounts.
  • Support new account onboarding, including setup forms, pricing, and first orders.
  • Educate stores and distributor reps through product training, demos, sampling, in-store merchandising, etc.
  • Share sell sheets and marketing materials, and represent Fera at trade shows and industry events as needed.
  • Track and report performance
  • Track sales, orders, and promo performance by account and distributor.
  • Prepare regular reports on channel performance, reorder trends, and pipeline.
  • Use distributor velocity and depletion data to spot growth opportunities.
  • Keep account files organized in the team's shared drive.

What Success Looks Like, Year 1

  • Orders from independent retailers and distributors are processed accurately and on time, with clear communication to accounts
  • Promotions run smoothly and billbacks are reconciled every month with no surprises for finance
  • Existing accounts are retained and reordering consistently
  • New independent retail and distributor accounts are added through outreach and inbound leads
  • Account, pricing, and promo records are clean and current, and the team can rely on them
  • Store owners and distributor partners see Fera as responsive and easy to work with

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Organized and detail oriented, comfortable owning many accounts and deadlines at once
  • Relationship builder who enjoys working with customers by phone, email, and in person
  • Proactive problem solver who follows through without needing reminders
  • Comfortable with numbers, pricing, and spreadsheets
  • Eager to learn and grow in a smaller, faster moving environment where processes are still being built

Background in CPG, pet, natural products, or wholesale sales strongly preferred

Minimum Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in sales, account coordination, customer service, or order management
  • Experience managing orders, invoices, or customer accounts with a high degree of accuracy
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including basic formulas and pivot tables
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience with HubSpot or another CRM
  • Experience with order or inventory management systems (such as Cin7) and wholesale platforms like Faire
  • Familiarity with distributors, billbacks, deductions, or trade promotions

Compensation

Salary: $73,000 - $78,000 per year base, plus commission and potential for bonus

Location: Glendale, CA (hybrid or remote)

This role is remote, based in our Glendale, CA office, with occasional travel for trade shows and key account visits.
