A key partner in providing track maintenance and construction and locomotive manufacturing, transfer, switching and maintenance. Railyard Products & Services includes Amertrack Rail, Trackmobile, Zephir and Powerhouse.

I. SUMMARY

The Regional Leader – Operations Major Projects and Surfacing is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and effective execution of rail construction, maintenance, surfacing, and capital projects across as assigned. This role provides leadership and direction to Superintendents and field crews while coordinating resources, equipment, materials, and schedules to meet customer requirements and business objectives. The position works closely with the Project Management team to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards and customer expectations.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote and manage safety and regulatory compliance through random audits, spot checks, and participation in company and industry safety programs and protocols. Work closely with the Regional Leader – Operations, Superintendents, and Crews to promote, support, and commit to a safe working environment.
  • Drive, promote, and ensure adherence to all corporate and company policies and procedures.
  • Lead and manage Superintendents and Crew Foremen within the assigned operating region. Provide leadership and direction for all operational functions, including crew scheduling, material coordination, and equipment utilization.
  • Initiate, prioritize, and execute operational activities to achieve business unit goals. Monitor project execution to ensure compliance with bid plans, customer specifications, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with the Project Management to prioritize and manage work, ensuring effective utilization of regional assets for rail maintenance and construction projects.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance team productivity, efficiency, and performance.
  • Review and evaluate operational plans developed Project Management and assigned by AVP Operations, coordinating materials, assets, and subcontractor resources while maintaining cost accountability.
  • Oversee cost projections and control by collecting, analyzing, and managing information related to track maintenance and construction operations.
  • Manage operational schedules, resource allocation, and cost performance to achieve established goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to ensure all services meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts and performance assumptions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

III. QUALIFICATIONS:

The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential duties of this position. A. Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, including cost analysis, budgeting, and estimating.
  • 10+ years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and team members.
  • Proficiency in standard business software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

C. Language Skills

  • Excellent communication skills—verbal, nonverbal, and written—with strong active listening abilities.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, initiative, resilience, and tact in leadership and collaborative settings.
  • Strong decision-making skills with a focus on safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Solid working knowledge of the rail construction and maintenance industry and related operational practices.

D. Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

E. Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described below represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position operates primarily in a construction site and office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, or fumes in the plant environment. The noise level is typically moderate.

F. Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel as required (approximately 15 days per month).

Annual salary starts at $55,000 based on experience.

Pay Range:

$120,000 - $160,000
