Job Summary
We are looking for a PostgreSQL Senior SME Architect with 12 years of database experience and strong expertise in PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and enterprise database migration programs. The role requires deep technical leadership across architecture, migration strategy, performance engineering, HADR, security, automation, and production cutover for large-scale modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead PostgreSQL target state architecture migration strategy and modernization planning for enterprise database platforms.
- Drive heterogeneous migrations from Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Sybase, or other RDBMS platforms to PostgreSQL Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Guide schema conversion, data migration, CDC validation, reconciliation, performance tuning, and production cutover activities.
- Define best practices for PostgreSQL design, indexing, partitioning, replication, backup, recovery, security, monitoring, and operational readiness.
- Work with customer architects, DBAs, application teams, cloud engineers, DevOps, security, and program leadership to resolve technical risks and delivery blockers.
- Create architecture documents, assessment reports, migration runbooks, cutover plans, risk summaries, and operational handover documentation.
- Mentor engineering teams, review solution designs, support presales RFP inputs, and provide thought leadership for PostgreSQL modernization offerings.
Required Skills
- 12 years of database engineering, administration, architecture, and migration experience.
- Expert level knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, administration, PLpgSQL, schema design, indexing, partitioning, performance tuning, backup, recovery, security, and monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS DMS, AWS SCT, AWS CLI, CloudWatch, Performance Insights, IAM, KMS, S3, and VPC networking concepts.
- Strong experience in heterogeneous database migrations including assessment, schema conversion, data migration, validation, reconciliation, and cutover planning.
- Good scripting and automation skills using SQL, PLpgSQL, shell scripting, Python, Git, and reusable migration validation frameworks.
- Strong consulting, communication, stakeholder management, documentation, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to migration factory models, database control planes, automation accelerators, PostgreSQL landing zones, and managed database service operations.
- Knowledge of application modernization impacts such as driver changes, embedded SQL remediation, ORM changes, batch job redesign, SQL regression testing, and post-migration performance validation.
- Experience supporting presales RFP solutioning, migration estimation, executive risk reporting, and customer-facing technical advisory discussions.

Variable Compensation
This position includes a bonus or variable payout component based on individual and organizational performance. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, performance, and internal equity.
