About the Role:

CM Energy Concepts is looking for someone who identifies opportunities and wins contracts. You will connect with general contractors, property managers, facility managers, building owners, and commercial and industrial businesses. CMEC will provide estimating and technical support to help you qualify opportunities, prepare proposals, and close business.

Responsibilities

• Prospect through in-person visits, cold calls, email outreach, referrals, and networking.
• Build relationships with decision-makers throughout Greater Houston.
• Identify upcoming construction projects, electrical upgrades, lighting projects, and facility service needs.
• Secure bid invitations and help CMEC qualify as an approved vendor or subcontractor.
• Gather project information and coordinate site visits with the estimating and operations teams.
• Present CMEC’s services and proposals to prospective clients.
• Follow up consistently on opportunities, quotations, and pending decisions.
• Negotiate within company-approved pricing and contract guidelines.
• Maintain accurate CRM records of contacts, meetings, proposals, and next steps.
• Coordinate the handoff of awarded projects to operations.
• Maintain relationships with your accounts and identify repeat business opportunities.

Compensation and Career Growth

Initial Stage: Commission-Only Outside Sales

This position begins without a base salary. Earn 15% of project gross profit on qualifying projects for new clients you personally originate and close. No cap on commissions. Receive estimating, technical, and proposal support from CMEC. Build a client portfolio with opportunities for repeat business. For commission purposes, a client is considered new during the first period until the account reaches the agreed sales-volume milestone. Qualifying projects during that period follow the new-client commission structure. After that period, qualifying repeat projects earn 5% of project gross profit, provided you remain actively responsible for the account under the compensation agreement.

Growth Stage: Salary Plus Commissions

Representatives who achieve agreed milestones for active clients, collected revenue, and gross profit generated will be eligible to transition into a salaried sales position. In that role, you will: Receive an agreed base salary. Continue managing your established portfolio through inside sales and account management. Earn 5% of project gross profit on qualifying repeat projects from established accounts you actively manage. Continue earning 15% of project gross profit on qualifying projects for new clients you personally originate and close during their first 12 months. We will establish transition milestones and salary in writing. Transition is based on sustained business results and a formal offer from CMEC; it does not occur automatically after a specific length of service.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in B2B outside sales or business development.
• Ability to generate leads and secure new business independently.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
• Ability to manage a sales pipeline and maintain organized records.
• Professional English communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Greater Houston.
• Understanding of, and willingness to begin with, a commission-only compensation structure.

Preferred Experience

• Sales experience in electrical contracting, construction, HVAC, building automation, lighting, solar, or facility services.
• Existing relationships with Houston-area general contractors, property managers, facility managers, or building owners.
• Experience securing commercial service agreements or construction subcontracts.
• Familiarity with bidding, vendor registration, and subcontractor qualification.
• Spanish proficiency is a plus.

An electrician’s license is not required for this sales position. Relevant industry knowledge and the ability to coordinate technical questions with our team are valuable.
