Market Development Executive - Microsoft & AWS Solutions | State, Local Government & Education (SLED)

The Opportunity

Insight is seeking an experienced Market Development Executive (MDE) to drive Microsoft and AWS consulting, cloud, AI, security, and modernization opportunities across the State, Local Government, and Education (SLED) market.

In this role, you will partner with government agencies, municipalities, K-12 school districts, colleges, universities, and other public sector organizations to help them modernize infrastructure, accelerate cloud adoption, enhance cybersecurity, leverage AI, and improve digital services.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to executive and technology leaders while identifying, developing, and closing professional services and solutions opportunities aligned to each customer's strategic initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Develop and execute territory growth strategies focused on SLED accounts.
• Build relationships with key decision-makers, including CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, Superintendents, IT Directors, and agency leaders.
• Identify, qualify, and close consulting, implementation, managed services, cloud, AI, data, and cybersecurity opportunities.
• Position Microsoft and AWS solutions across:
• Azure & AWS Cloud
• Microsoft 365 & Copilot
• Data & AI
• Cybersecurity & Compliance
• Application Modernization
• Infrastructure Modernization
• Modern Workplace
• Partner with solution architects, engineers, delivery teams, and strategic partners to develop customer-focused solutions.
• Lead executive discussions around digital transformation, modernization, security, and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Navigate public sector procurement processes, contract vehicles, and funding opportunities.
• Manage the sales lifecycle from prospecting through negotiation and close.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with Microsoft and AWS teams to drive joint pipeline and growth opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of technology solutions, consulting services, or cloud sales experience.
• Proven success selling professional services, cloud solutions, managed services, or digital transformation initiatives.
• Experience developing and closing complex enterprise or public sector opportunities.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Copilot, Security, Data & AI, and Application Modernization.
• Experience engaging executive and technical stakeholders.
• Strong business development, territory planning, and relationship management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience selling into State, Local Government, or Education organizations.
• Knowledge of public sector procurement processes, cooperative purchasing vehicles, and government contracting.
• Experience selling AWS cloud solutions and services.
• Existing relationships within Microsoft, AWS, or public sector technology ecosystems.
• Understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks impacting government and education organizations.
• Experience supporting large-scale cloud migration, modernization, AI, cybersecurity, or infrastructure transformation initiatives.

Compensation

Base of $100K - $140K plus commission component.
