What IT Program & Project Management contributes to Cardinal Health

IT Program & Project Management applies Information Technology knowledge and experience to plan, organize, and control resources, procedures, and timing for complex projects within the Information Technology function. This family organizes project teams, establishes project schedules and individual responsibilities, and determines resource requirements. This job family manages project budgets and reports on the status of project cost, timing and staffing. IT Program & Project Management also ensures adherence to internal external quality standards and integrates vendor tasks and deliverables into project plans.

This role leads the Infrastructure Project Management Team and is accountable for developing project managers and delivering complex infrastructure initiatives. The successful candidate will combine strong project leadership with the technical fluency needed to partner effectively with engineering teams and business leaders. This role requires a hands-on leader who will manage and develop project management professionals while maintaining direct responsibility for delivering projects. This leader will drive accountability, challenge assumptions, remove obstacles, and foster a culture of proactive ownership, critical thinking, and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Leads the Infrastructure Project Management Team, setting clear expectations for project delivery, team performance, and accountability.
• Develops and coaches project management professionals, establishing a culture of proactive ownership, critical thinking, and problem solving.
• Directly manages complex infrastructure projects while ensuring successful execution across scope, schedule, budget, risk, and stakeholder engagement.
• Builds strong partnerships with engineering teams, business leaders, and vendors to remove obstacles, manage dependencies, and drive successful delivery outcomes.
• Challenges assumptions, identifies risks and dependencies, and facilitates decision-making to keep projects moving forward.
• Drives consistency in project management practices, governance, and reporting while fostering continuous improvement across the PMO.
• Builds high-performing teams by creating accountability, developing talent, and promoting a results-oriented culture.
• Communicates project health, risks, and recommendations with clarity and transparency, enabling informed decision-making.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience, preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
• Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP) preferred
• Experience with Planview or other project and portfolio management (PPM) platforms preferred
• Demonstrated experience delivering complex infrastructure or enterprise technology projects preferred
• Experience managing project management professionals while maintaining direct project or program delivery responsibility preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, business partners, and senior leaders and translate technical complexity into business impact preferred

Anticipated salary range: $106,700 - $167,640
