Are you passionate about using technology and business analysis to drive meaningful change? The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking highly skilled professionals to serve in the role of IT Business Analyst Journey!
As trusted business and technical experts, the candidates of choice will work with the goal of supporting mission-critical enterprise application that strengthen operations and contribute to public safety. In this role, you will perform focused analysis of business needs, define requirements, and provide expert consultation to support agency-wide systems and processes. You will facilitate requirements gathering, maintain technical documentation, and participate in the validation and resolution of issues affecting enterprise applications.
By evaluating system complexities, dependencies, and interactions, you will help ensure reliable technology solutions that improve business practices and organizational performance. This position serves as a key liaison between business and technology, requiring deep knowledge of DOC operations and enterprise applications across all divisions and back-office functions.
As a technical subject matter expert, you will assess the impact of proposed changes, provide informed recommendations, and support solutions that align with the department’s mission to improve public safety by positively changing lives.

OR 6 years of experience may be substituted for education in any of the following areas:
Ability to plan and manage time effectively by identifying and handling competing priorities professionally
Make effective decisions within short timeframes, taking appropriate action to ensure continued delivery of services
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to bridge the gap between technical and business requirements
*Correctional and/or relevant experience may substitute year for year for post-secondary education

Tuberculosis (TB) is a priority health issue for DOC employees. The successful candidate may be required to provide valid proof of a baseline TB skin test within 60 days from the date of hire. Telework Details
This position may be allocated for telework. If authorized for the role, work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
