The Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) seeks a qualified individual for the Insurance Technician 3 (IT3 Non-Perm) position. This role is within the Consumer Protection Division and is based out of our Tumwater Office. We are an employer of choice! Here’s why:
About the Position
Are you a detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving problems, researching complex questions, and helping people navigate regulatory requirements? Do you take pride in making thoughtful decisions, communicating clearly, and providing excellent customer service? If so, the Insurance Technician 3 role may be a great opportunity to put your skills to work protecting consumers and supporting the fair and efficient regulation of Washington’s insurance industry.
As an Insurance Technician 3 in the Producer Licensing Unit, you will play an important role in the Office of the Insurance Commissioner’s mission to protect consumers, the public interest, and our state’s economy. This position offers a dynamic mix of analysis, research, decision-making, and customer service.
You will work with applicants, licensees, insurers, industry representatives, consumers, and other regulatory agencies, providing authoritative guidance on licensing requirements and helping customers understand complex processes. You will also troubleshoot electronic licensing transactions, investigate failed or denied transactions, identify appropriate solutions, and document your work in agency systems.
We’re looking for someone who brings sound judgment, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to customer service. The ideal candidate is curious, organized, adaptable, and comfortable researching information, interpreting regulations, explaining complex requirements clearly, and making fair, well-informed decisions. If you enjoy meaningful work, solving problems, and helping ensure that insurance professionals meet the requirements designed to protect the public, this could be an excellent opportunity to make a difference.
