Job Description

Job Summary

The HR Operations Generalist provides comprehensive operational, administrative, systems, and employee-service support across the Human Resources Operations function. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate employee data, timely processing of employee lifecycle transactions, compliant recordkeeping, responsive employee support, and effective coordination of HR projects and initiatives.

The HR Operations Generalist partners with HR Operations leadership and cross-functional HR teams including HRIS, Payroll, Total Rewards, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, and HR Compliance to support consistent, efficient, and employee-centered HR service delivery. The role handles routine matters independently and escalates complex, sensitive, or specialized issues to the appropriate team or subject-matter expert.

Duties & Responsibilities

HR Systems, Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Serve as a resource for routine HRIS, employee data, and system-access questions; route complex matters to the appropriate HRIS or specialist team.
  • Partner with HRIS to support data audits, system testing, implementations, documentation, access requests, and resolution of routine system or integration issues.
  • Maintain HR process documentation, standard operating procedures, FAQs, knowledge-base content, and internal resources; identify opportunities to improve processes, data quality, and self-service.
  • Performs regular audits of employee records in ADP to maintain data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with internal standards.

Compliance, Employee Support & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential employee records, files, correspondence, forms, organizational charts, headcount information, compliance documentation, and training-completion records in accordance with company policies, applicable requirements, and record-retention standards.
  • Support employment verifications, unemployment claims, record-retention activities, HR audits, internal investigations, and other compliance initiatives.
  • Respond to routine employee and manager questions regarding policies, procedures, benefits, payroll, systems, and general HR processes.
  • Maintain current HR resources, employee communications, policy documentation, and internal reference materials.
  • Process employee lifecycle transactions, including hires, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, leaves, and terminations, in HRIS, payroll, and related systems while ensuring accurate records and timely stakeholder coordination.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities, including offer-related documentation, background screening administration, I-9 compliance, employee setup, orientation, and completion tracking.
  • Coordinate offboarding activities, including termination documentation, system updates, exit processes, and Payroll coordination.
  • Provide administrative support for lifecycle-related communications, documentation, and process tracking.

Benefits, Leave & Payroll Support

  • Act as backup for Payroll administration
  • Assist employees with routine benefits, leave, payroll, enrollment, life-event, and open-enrollment questions and processes.
  • Support leave administration through documentation tracking, employee communications, and coordination with Benefits, Payroll, vendors, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate benefits-related records and support data reconciliation among HRIS, payroll, and vendor systems.
  • Escalate complex benefits, leave, payroll, eligibility, or vendor matters to the appropriate specialist or partner.

Project Coordination & Special Initiatives

  • Coordinate ad hoc HR Operations, Total Rewards, and cross-functional initiatives by tracking timelines, deliverables, documentation, action items, and stakeholder updates.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not have formal people leadership responsibilities but may provide guidance, mentorship, or subject matter expertise to others.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Communication and Consultation – ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders and communicate results to a variety of audiences
  • Relationship Management – build relationships with stakeholders, set expectations and keep stakeholders informed of progress
  • HR knowledge – knowledge of HR best practices and understanding of key HR processes
  • Data driven mind – ability to work with multiple sources of data and excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Excel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in HR and HRIS experience; ADP preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR Certification is a plus

Other Requirements

This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring long periods of sitting, regular use of a computer, and occasional standing or walking, with reasonable accommodations available.
