Job Summary

The Field Service Technician (FST) plays a critical role in our customers’ success. We’re looking for a skilled, independent technician who enjoys solving complex equipment problems, travelling to customer sites, and delivering excellent service.

This role requires field service experience, daily travel, and technical knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment. The successful candidate will bring strong time management and customer service skills, attention to detail, and a systematic approach to managing multiple responsibilities.

Our Field Service Technicians support customers across North America by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mobile and stationary waste and recycling equipment. They also provide technical support by phone, onsite maintenance, and operational training. Our team values trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and our technicians strengthen customer relationships through exceptional service. This is a remote role based in the Northeast U.S.

$40-$45 per hour

What You’ll Do:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and Machine Controls systems on various heavy equipment, shredding, screening, and composting machinery.
• Analyze and remedy various mechanical issues related to chassis, rotational components, and conveyors.
• Daily travel throughout the Northeast with occasional travel throughout North America, to customer sites to provide service, maintenance, training, and technical support.
• Perform delivery, setup, and training for new machines at customer sites.
• Support customers remotely by phone and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance and equipment inspections.
• Deliver, commission, set up new equipment at customer sites. Train operators on safe and effective use.
• Operate equipment during demonstrations, rentals, and customer events as required.
• Complete service reports, supporting documentation, photos, and time tracking accurately.
• Build strong customer relationships and provide exceptional service.
• Follow all company safety requirements.

What We’re Looking for:

Required Certifications & Qualifications

• Ability to pass a pre-employment WorkSTEPS physical, background check, and drug screening.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (MVR).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Certification.

Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of 480V three-phase electrical systems, 24VDC control systems, hydraulics, and mechanical repair.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical issues both remotely and on-site.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.
• Experience with Acumatica ERP and ProntoForms software is an asset.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), iOS devices, and other business software.

• Gather and assess detailed technical information, identify the underlying issue, and implement an effective solution in high-pressure situations.
• Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Experience Eligibility Requirements

• At least three years of heavy-equipment field service experience involving the maintenance or manufacture of agricultural, recycling, construction, or industrial machinery.
• Experience with industrial recycling equipment, both Stationary and Mobile (Grinders, Shredders, Screeners, and Sorting) is a plus.
• Prior experience with Equipment Manufacturers.
• Experience downloading and programming variable frequency drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and human-machine interfaces (HMIs).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Work is primarily performed outdoors at customer sites that may be dusty, muddy, and noisy and may involve working near moving mechanical parts. A high level of safety awareness is required.
• The role is physically active and requires prolonged standing and walking, as well as frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, reaching, pushing, and pulling. It also requires significant finger dexterity.
• Requires working and driving outdoors in various climates/temperatures and the possibility of sitting for an extended period.
• Ability to lift 70 lbs.
