Do you have a passion for solving complex technical challenges, delivering exceptional customer support, and working with customers around the globe? Air Products is seeking a Global Support and Services Technician to join our Global Service & Support (GSS) team. In this dynamic, customer-facing role, you will play a key part in ensuring the successful installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of our equipment across the marine and land-based industries.

As a trusted technical expert, you will provide hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance support, customer training, and commissioning services while also supporting commercial activities such as quotations and order follow-up. This role offers the opportunity to work with customers worldwide, travel domestically and internationally approximately 30% of the time, and make a direct impact on customer success. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, safety-focused, customer-oriented, and thrives in independent, fast-paced environments where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Air Products' primary technical representative at customer sites, maintaining a professional image and delivering exceptional customer service.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning, startup, maintenance, and service activities safely and efficiently.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and industrial equipment to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
• Provide technical guidance, operational support, and customer training as required.
• Ensure compliance with all company, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Develop, review, and update commissioning and service procedures to support operational excellence.
• Complete accurate and timely service reports, expense reports, time reporting, technical documentation, and customer follow-up in accordance with company requirements.
• Provide technical input to quotations, spare-parts recommendations, service proposals, and follow-up activities, as applicable.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical issues and improve service delivery.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to enhanced customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
• Support the GSS sales and spare parts activities by preparing quotations, following up with customers, and coordinating orders when not assigned to field service, travel, or other technical support activities.
• Support special projects and assignments directed by the Customer Support Manager.
• Take ownership of assigned service activities from preparation through execution, reporting, follow-up, and technical closeout.
• Maintain current knowledge of Air Products' equipment, technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications Required

• Technical diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in field service, commissioning, industrial maintenance, or technical support.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Proven ability to plan and execute field assignments independently, manage priorities, follow established procedures, and escalate technical or safety concerns when required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
• Proficiency with service management software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 30% of the time, including overnight stays, extended customer-site assignments, and travel outside normal business hours.
• Ability and willingness to work onboard vessels and at land-based industrial facilities, including in machinery spaces and other operational environments, while complying with all applicable safety requirements.
• Flexibility to support customers outside normal business hours when required, including occasional evenings or weekends.
• Participate in an on-call support rotation as required.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport and required travel documentation are required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with industrial gas generation, marine industry, membrane separation systems, compressors, instrumentation, PLC-based controls, process equipment, or similar technologies.
• Experience conducting customer training and technical presentations.
• Knowledge of commissioning and startup procedures for industrial and marine systems.
• The preferred location is the St. Louis, Missouri area. Candidates based elsewhere in the United States may also be considered, provided they have convenient access to a major airport and are able to meet the position's travel requirements.
