Position Summary

The English Learner (EL) Teacher provides direct English language development instruction, individualized academic support, and case management services to identified English Learners in grades 4–8 throughout Jennings County School Corporation. This position requires travel between assigned elementary and middle school buildings to ensure students receive appropriate English language development services and equitable access to grade-level curriculum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Direct Instruction and Language Development: Provide direct, specially designed English language development instruction to identified English Learners.
2. Caseload Management and Student Services: Maintain an assigned caseload of English Learners across designated buildings.
3. Multi-Building Responsibilities and Scheduling: Travel between assigned Jennings County School Corporation school buildings to provide EL instruction and support.
4. Collaboration with General Education Teachers: Collaborate with general education teachers to support the academic success of English Learners.
5. Collaboration with Special Education Staff: Collaborate with special education teachers, case conference committee members, and related service providers.
6. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Administer or assist with required English language proficiency assessments.
7. Family Communication and Student Advocacy: Establish positive relationships with English Learners and their families.
8. Program Compliance and Professional Responsibilities: Ensure English Learner services are implemented in accordance with Indiana Department of Education guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Indiana teaching license with the English Learners (EL) content area addition.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience providing English Learner instruction.
• Experience managing an English Learner caseload across multiple schools.
