Ehs executive leader – wind services

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a EHS Executive Leader – Wind Services based in United States.

This executive leadership role will oversee environmental, health, and safety strategy and execution across a global wind services organization. The position carries broad responsibility for EHS performance across more than 3,000 employees and 1,000 contractors supporting a fleet of approximately 25,000 wind turbines worldwide. You will translate EHS strategy and performance data into practical operational actions while partnering closely with senior services and regional leaders. The role combines organizational design, contractor risk management, incident investigation, proactive risk reduction, and cultural transformation. You will lead a global EHS team and drive consistent standards across geographically dispersed, high-hazard operations. This is a high-visibility opportunity to strengthen safety performance, operational discipline, and compliance across a complex international services environment.

Accountabilities:

• Design and optimize the EHS organizational structure for Wind Services, establishing clear accountability, effective response mechanisms, and consistent operational standards across global regions.
• Serve as the primary EHS strategic partner to senior services leadership, regional leaders, and contractor operations leadership.
• Translate complex EHS performance data into actionable business strategies that align safety, operational effectiveness, and business objectives.
• Collaborate with EHS Centers of Excellence to translate global standards into practical, scalable, and effective field-level programs.
• Direct the execution of EHS initiatives across service regions, with particular focus on operations and maintenance, blades, and other high-risk activities.
• Ensure EHS standards are embedded into maintenance, repair, and field intervention activities rather than treated solely as documentation requirements.
• Own the contractor safety lifecycle, partnering directly with contractor leadership to establish EHS priorities, reinforce life-saving requirements, and maintain consistent safety expectations.
• Lead the global deployment of EHS programs in coordination with regional EHS leaders, promoting consistency, accountability, and disciplined execution.
• Oversee monthly reporting, KPI analysis, problem solving, action planning, and preparation of management operating reviews related to Wind Services EHS performance.
• Lead investigations into high-risk near misses, serious injuries, fatalities, and other significant incidents, using findings to drive structural and systemic improvements.
• Direct proactive risk assessments and safety assurance activities designed to identify and mitigate hazards before incidents occur.
• Develop data-driven initiatives aimed at reducing incident rates, serious recordable events, and process safety events.
• Champion a safety-focused culture throughout the organization, influencing senior executives, operational leaders, contractors, and field personnel.
• Build, recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing global EHS organization.
• Provide senior leadership with transparent reporting on EHS performance, compliance, risks, challenges, and progress toward safety maturity objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Proven experience leading large-scale, complex, geographically dispersed organizations in high-hazard industries.
• Significant experience in EHS management, including direct execution of EHS programs in operational or field environments.
• Strong understanding of how EHS functions as a business enabler while maintaining appropriate operational rigor and risk controls.
• Demonstrated ability to reduce incident rates through proactive risk management, structural improvements, and sustained leadership.
• Experience managing contractor safety programs and working directly with contractor leadership on EHS performance and compliance.
• Strong understanding of incident investigation, risk assessment, safety assurance, EHS metrics, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Exceptional executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders across diverse global teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both field-level operational teams and senior executive leadership.
• Strong strategic thinking, organizational design, problem-solving, and change-management capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing EHS teams across multiple regions and operating environments.
• Ability to balance global EHS standards with practical field requirements and changing operational priorities.
• Strong commitment to safety culture, accountability, continuous improvement, and measurable business results.
