Position Summary:

The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for the creation and distribution of purchase orders and is the backup to the Document Specialist. In this role the Purchasing Assistant will interact with and provide daily support to the buyers and internal customer service team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor Domestic Purchase Order Mailbox and prioritize requests
• Create offers for committed purchases & create purchase orders to process
• Review purchasing report daily and prioritize BOLs to process as needed
• Serve as a backup to the Purchasing Supervisor for report processing as needed

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced and transactional environment.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail is a must.
• Excellent communication, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work as a team player.
• Proactive skills, and service-oriented ethics.

Technical Requirements:

• Proficiency in Windows & Microsoft Office, with a strong MS Excel knowledge, is a must.

Education/Experience:

• 2 + years of experience required, preferably in plastics or other related manufacturing/distribution related fields.
• High school degree required; college degree preferred.
