Job Description

ABOUT PLTFRM

PLTFRM is an industry-leading, tech-enabled omnichannel commerce growth partner helping consumer brands win wherever people shop. Through specialized teams and connected capabilities across sales, retail execution, e-commerce, media, analytics and supply chain, all powered by proprietary data and AI, we help emerging and established brands expand distribution, scale smarter and accelerate growth. Our technology turns retail and consumer signals into faster decisions and sharper execution, so our partners can move at the speed of today's shopper.

Founded in 2005, more than 700 PLTFRM employees support over 800 brand partners across digital, mass, club, natural and conventional retail channels, including Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Costco, Whole Foods Market, TikTok Shop and other leading retailers and marketplaces. Together, we influence more than $12 billion in annual retail sales across categories ranging from food and wellness to pet, electronics and general merchandise.

Built on authentic relationships, progressive thinking and undeniable execution, PLTFRM is a place for people with an entrepreneurial spirit who are hungry to win and driven to add value. The people who thrive here are team-oriented problem solvers who care deeply about their work, their clients and one another. We give talented people the opportunity to take ownership, build meaningful partnerships and help great brands reach more consumers.

If you set a high bar for yourself and then look for ways to clear it, you'll fit right in. We're looking for ambitious, self-motivated people who want their work to make a visible impact and who are ready to grow as fast as the brands we serve.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Director of Data Science and Measurement to own how our digital team measures, explains, and improves performance across every channel our brands sell in. These channels include Amazon, Walmart, Target, TikTok Shop, Costco, Sam's Club, Best Buy, and DTC.

You'll be the person who turns fragmented retailer and platform data into a defensible point of view: what's actually driving sell-through, what media spend is earning its keep, where assortment and content are leaving money on the table, and what to do about it next quarter. You'll work directly with brand leadership, our media and content teams, and our data engineering organization, and you'll be in front of clients regularly.

The right candidate has lived inside these retailer ecosystems — not read about them. You know why Walmart's POS data and Amazon's shipped-COGS numbers don't reconcile, what changes when a brand moves from 1P to 3P, and why a TikTok Shop GMV number needs three caveats before you put it on a slide.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

  • Act as the ultimate authority on all KPIs and calculations. You will define exactly what every metric means, document the exact methodology for how it is calculated, and ensure strict adherence across the organization. This will require standardizing fragmented retailer data into an ironclad single source of truth.
  • Set the standard for data quality and definitions. Own the metric dictionary and be the absolute final word when two dashboards disagree.
  • Own digital performance measurement end to end. Define the metrics, methodology, and reporting cadence for sales, share, media, content, and availability across all channels.
  • Build the closed loop. Connect retail media and social spend to downstream sell-through and true incremental sales. Move the team off last-click and platform-reported ROAS toward defensible attribution and structured test-and-learn design.
  • Own the measurement toolkit. Design and interpret incrementality tests, geo/DMA holdouts and matched-market reads, dayparting and flighting analysis, PDP and content quality measurement, regression analysis, causal impact analysis, share-of-search and share-of-shelf tracking, promotional lift and cannibalization studies, and new-to-brand and repeat-purchase analysis.
  • Translate data into decisions. Analyze category and portfolio trends to deliver meaningful macro insights for quarterly business reviews and joint business planning for brand and retailer conversations. Will include focus on velocity, assortment, pricing, promotion effectiveness, content quality, share of shelf, and forecast risk.
  • Partner with data engineering to translate commercial questions into data requirements — which retailer and platform feeds we need, at what level of detail, how often, and what business logic defines "a week," "a unit," and "a sale" in each ecosystem.
  • Lead and grow the team. Manage and mentor analysts and senior analysts, build the hiring plan, and raise the bar on analytical rigor, writing, and client-facing storytelling.
  • Be a commercial partner. Support new business and renewals with analytics-led narratives. Identify where our findings should become productized capability rather than one-off decks.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • 8+ years in analytics, with 3+ years leading people, in retail, CPG, e-commerce, or an agency/consultancy serving them.
  • Deep, hands-on Amazon experience across both 1P and 3P models.
  • Demonstrated ownership of measurement for at least two major retail channels, one of which is Amazon or Walmart.
  • Track record designing and interpreting incrementality tests and reading geographic/DMA-level performance.
  • Comfortable working directly with data — writing your own SQL queries and building your own views in a BI tool rather than waiting on someone else to pull numbers. Power BI preferred; Tableau or Looker acceptable.
  • Ability to explain uncertainty honestly to a non-technical audience, and to say "we can't measure that cleanly" when it's true.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication. You can hold a room with a CMO and a category buyer in it.
  • Experience with MMM, marketing mix or media measurement vendors, and third-party attribution platforms.
  • Walmart Connect media measurement and Walmart Marketplace experience.
  • Familiarity with a modern cloud data platform (Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery).
  • Python or R for analysis.
  • Experience building or evaluating AI/LLM-assisted analytics and reporting workflows.

WHAT PLTFRM OFFERS

  • Competitive salary and bonus eligibility
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 401K + Company match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Hybrid or Remote Work Environment
  • A high ownership, high performance, high collaboration culture
  • The opportunity to work with leading consumer brands and shape the future of commerce
