Overview

Seeking a Senior Finance Modernization/Finance Data Systems resource

Responsibilities:

• Inventory metadata and source data across all databases in scope ( FN, FR to start with)
• Understand and document detailed input sources, data lineage, data movement, controls, and downstream reporting dependencies.
• Compare data elements across FN, FR, AVD, LTC, and GPR to identify common fields, differences, and normalization needs.
• Compare source system inputs to what currently exists in the cloud / Databricks environment.
• Identify data gaps, quality issues, missing attributes, control gaps, and reconciliation needs.
• Support the creation of a data dictionary, including definitions, naming conventions, metric definitions, and business rules.
• Partner with the Data Architect, Data Modeler, Pipeline Engineers, database SMEs, actuarial SMEs, and project leadership to support Bronze Layer readiness and future-state data design.

Requirements:

• Finance domain expertise: Experience with subledgers, general ledger hierarchies, accounting engines, valuation systems, actuarial reserves, and statutory/GAAP reporting.
• Finance transformation experience: Ability to support finance systems implementation or modernization programs and work with Controllers, finance teams, or actuaries.
• End-to-end delivery ownership: Experience leading requirements, design, build, testing, implementation, and delivery—not only documentation or requirements gathering.
• Data engineering depth: Strong SQL, ETL development, data transformation, profiling, and validation capabilities.
• Data lineage expertise: Ability to create and manage element-level critical data element traceability across multiple systems, including legacy and undocumented ETL processes.
• Modern data platform experience: Hands-on experience with Databricks, medallion architecture, and preferably Azure-based data platforms.
• Legacy data experience: Exposure to mainframe datasets and complex source-system environments.
• Senior stakeholder leadership: Ability to independently lead workstreams, manage issues, coordinate remediation, and communicate with both technical and business stakeholders.

The ideal resource should have strong data analysis and data stewardship skills, including experience with data profiling, metadata documentation, source-to-target mapping, data dictionaries, reconciliation, and working with technical and business SMEs. An actuarial or valuation background would be highly valuable since this work will directly support actuaries and Controllers within OCA. Experience with SQL highly preferred Strong knowledge of Data Governance.
