With a deep commitment to trust, integrity and collaboration, Flyttr has become the trusted partner of governments, industries, philanthropies and communities seeking to make bold advancements on the biggest pest threats of our time. We work with urgency because lives and livelihoods depend on it. Successful candidates will find Flyttr to be an exhilarating place to do their best work and will find that every person at Flyttr plays a critical role in a dynamic, exciting, team-oriented culture.

Role Overview

As Commercial Director, Public Health (Vector Control), you will build and drive Flyttr’s commercial growth in US mosquito control, focusing on the invasive Aedes spp. mosquitoes now spreading across the United States and elevating local risks of dengue, Zika and chikungunya transmission.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Commercialization and Business Development, you will drive Flyttr’s US vector control strategy to yield pipeline and revenue growth, winning and growing contracts with mosquito control districts, state, county and local health departments, and federal departments and agencies. Based in Florida (or in the region with proven commercial leadership in Florida), the frontline states for invasive mosquitoes and at elevated risk of locally acquired arboviral diseases, your remit will include generating sales and partnerships within one or both states and converting policy momentum into sustainable commercial programs with state, county and federal partners that set the template for future nationwide rollout.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Planning & Growth

  • Market Planning: Translate the US commercial strategy into market and account plans, prioritizing opportunities by disease risk, budget and readiness to adopt new tools.
  • Revenue & Pipeline: Own the pipeline from opportunity to signed contract, delivering against revenue targets with accurate forecasting.
  • Offer & Pricing: Shape pricing and commercial models, such as multi-year suppression programs, with Product and Finance.
  • Market Insight: Track competing approaches and customer needs, feeding insight into product and operational planning.
  • Business Strategy: Help shape Flyttr’s medium- and long-term US business strategy, from market and segment priorities to the commercial models that will sustain growth.
  • Product Pipeline: Help shape Flyttr’s vector control pipeline, bringing customer and market insights to the development of next-generation vector control tools for the US market.

Customers & Partners

  • Customer Relationships: Build senior relationships with mosquito control districts; state, county and local health departments; federal agencies and departments; and professional associations.
  • Federal Engagement: With Policy colleagues, align and coordinate any potential direct engagements with the US CDC, EPA and other federal agencies and departments.
  • Partnerships: Secure customer-focused delivery and technology partnerships with clear success measures and a pathway to multi-year contracts.
  • Representation: Represent Flyttr as needed at industry conferences, mosquito control district board meetings and other public fora.

Contracting & Delivery

  • Procurement & Bids: Lead proposals and contract negotiation across federal, state, county and local procurement routes, including cooperative agreements and special-district funding cycles.
  • Funding Sources: Identify supplemental funding for programs, including federal cooperative agreements, amended state appropriations and philanthropic capital.
  • Delivery Alignment: Work with Operations, Science and Regulatory to ensure what is sold is deliverable, compliant and meets or exceeds the standards expected by our communities and government bodies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Location: Based in Florida or in the region with professional experience in Florida and legally authorized to work in the United States; able to travel extensively across the US, as needed.
  • Experience: At least 10 years in commercial, business development or account leadership roles, including at least five years at senior level, ideally selling to government or public health customers.
  • Sector Knowledge: Strong understanding of the US mosquito control and public health landscape, including how districts and health departments plan, budget and buy; knowledge of sterile insect techniques and other novel vector control tools highly desirable.
  • Government Sales: Proven track record of winning and scaling multi-year public sector contracts through complex procurement and funding cycles.
  • Network: Established relationships within the US vector control, public health and/or biosecurity communities.
  • Commercial Acumen: Experience building go-to-market strategies, pricing models and pipelines from an early stage, ideally in a technology-led or start-up environment.
  • Mindset & Skills: Credible, persuasive communicator, equally effective with community audiences, district boards and federal officials, with a roll-up-sleeves approach suited to a start-up culture; professional-level Spanish an advantage.
  • Education: BA/BS required; MBA, MPH or a degree in entomology, biology or public health beneficial.

Behavioural Requirements

  • Commitment to, and passion for, Flyttr’s mission and values.
  • Responsive to the needs of an international business working across different time zones, adapting working patterns in-line with business requirements.
  • Positive, humble, co-operative and professional always.
  • Works with urgency and solves things promptly.
  • Resilient and persistent in an innovative and constantly changing environment.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable building processes from scratch.
  • Values collaboration and works effectively with global colleagues.
