AI / Prompt Engineer — Beauty & DTC Ecommerce

Location: Remote (US-based, working US hours)

Recrescere Group are supporting an established beauty & lifestyle brand who are looking to speak with an AI / Prompt Engineer to build and ship AI-powered features across their direct-to-consumer ecommerce business, for a permanent, fully remote opportunity.

This role would suit someone with hands-on AI / LLM engineering experience — ideally within a DTC, ecommerce or consumer/beauty brand (or an agency serving them) — who is comfortable taking GenAI features from prototype to production and wants to own AI across a growing beauty brand.

The Role

You will be involved in:

• Designing, building and shipping LLM / GenAI features across the DTC ecommerce experience — product discovery, personalisation, customer assistants and content
• Writing, testing and optimising prompts, and building evaluation frameworks so model outputs are reliable and on-brand
• Building retrieval-augmented (RAG) pipelines and integrating LLMs with the brand's product, content and customer data
• Developing AI agents and automations that streamline marketing, merchandising and operations workflows
• Integrating AI with the ecommerce / martech stack (Shopify, data warehouse, CRM, email / SMS)
• Standing up measurement and A/B testing to prove impact on conversion, AOV, retention and efficiency
• Partnering with marketing, ecommerce, creative and leadership to turn needs into AI solutions
• Monitoring, evaluating and improving models in production — quality, latency, cost and guardrails
• Helping shape the brand's AI roadmap and best practice

Key Experience Required

• Hands-on experience building and shipping AI / LLM / GenAI features to production
• Strong prompt-engineering and LLM-evaluation skills
• Experience with RAG, embeddings, vector databases and LLM orchestration (LangChain / LlamaIndex or similar)
• Solid software engineering (Python) and API integration
• Experience in DTC, ecommerce or a consumer / beauty brand — or an agency serving them
• Commercial, data-led mindset, comfortable measuring impact (conversion, AOV, ROAS, retention)
• Able to work independently, end-to-end, on US hours

Desirable Experience

• Familiarity with the ecommerce / martech stack (Shopify, GA4, CRM, Klaviyo / Attentive)
• Personalisation / recommendation systems
• Computer vision / image AI for beauty (virtual try-on, skin analysis)
• Conversational AI / customer-support assistants
• MLOps / cloud deployment (GCP Vertex AI, AWS, Azure) and prior startup or 0-to-1 product experience
• Experience with Jarvis and/or Hermes
