The Chicago School educates the next generation of change-makers in innovative theory and culturally competent practice to strengthen the integrated health of individuals, organizations, and communities. We enroll over 6,000 students across 40+ academic programs culminating in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree or a professional certificate, and our unique approach to impact-focused education has made us a leading nonprofit university for over 40 years.
The University opened the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM), in summer 2026, with a mission is to train exceptional physicians to leverage the interconnection of physical and mental health to provide compassionate, patient-centered care of the highest quality.
The Academic Tutor is a part-time temporary position within the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM). The Academic Tutor supports currently enrolled IllinoisCOM students by assisting with academic success strategies. Tutors provide individual and/or group tutoring to students across a broad range of courses based on their personal area of expertise. Tutors meet with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes, and help students solve specific problems. Tutoring supports classroom-centered activities and is responsive to students identified needs while remaining aligned with course objectives, approved instructional materials, and institutional academic-integrity expectations. Tutors do not complete assignments for students, provide answers to graded work, predict examination content, independently modify course requirements, or serve as the instructor of record.
The Academic Tutor reports to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs. This is a remote position. Tutors will typically be assigned 2 to 10 hours per week, depending on availability and need. Applicants should generally be available to tutor at least two days per week. All tutoring sessions will be conducted virtually.
This opportunity is budgeted at $20 per hour base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
