Job description:

Specific Functions

  • Develop integrated construction schedules for TSF infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate earthworks, pipeline relocations, bench construction, embankment works and operational support activities.
  • Assist in planning deposition, pipeline relocations and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Track construction progress against approved schedules
  • Develop weekly and monthly progress reports
  • Coordinate interface between Operations, Construction and Maintenance to minimize operational disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Scheduling

  • Develop integrated weekly, monthly and annual work plans for Operations, Maintenance and Construction activities.
  • Develop detailed work packs including labor requirements, materials, tooling, SOPs and execution methodologies.
  • Coordinate planning meetings with Operations, Maintenance, Construction and Contractors.
  • Ensure all planned work supports production, deposition strategies and operational priorities
  • Monitor schedule compliance and planning KPIs
  • Support shut-down planning where applicable

Work Management and CMMS

  • Coordinate and maintain departmental CMMS including asset registers, equipment hierarchies, preventive maintenance schedules and work order history.
  • Ensure accurate capture of maintenance, construction and operational work history.
  • Develop standardized work packages and planning templates.
  • Review backlog and prioritize work based on risk and operational criticality.
  • Maintain document control for maintenance procedures, drawings and work instructions.

Materials, Spares and inventory management

  • Manage critical spares and rotable spare strategies for TSF infrastructure
  • Ensure minimum stock levels are maintained for operationally critical equipment
  • Monitor purchase requisitions, purchase orders and delivery schedules
  • Support annual critical spare reviews and inventory optimization
  • Identify opportunities to reduce inventory costs without compromising reliability.

Asset Management

  • Support implementation of the ISO 55001 asset management principles across the TSF department
  • Maintain accurate asset registers and equipment hierarchies
  • Support lifecycle planning for pumps, pipelines, valves, instrumentation, civil infrastructure and mobile equipment.
  • Participate in asset criticality assessments
  • Assist in asset replacement planning for long-term capital forecasting
  • Support risk-based maintenance strategies across department assets

Reliability and Continous improvement

  • Support Root Cause Analysis investigations
  • Monitor equipment reliability trends
  • Assist with preventive maintenance optimization
  • Develop reliability and maintenance performance dashboards

TSF Infrastructure planning

  • Support planning and maintenance of;
    • Tailings pipelines
    • Pump stations
    • Decant systems
    • Return water systems
    • Drainage infrastructure
    • Instrumentation
    • Dam safety monitoring systems
    • Roads and Civil infrastructure
  • Assist in ensuring infrastructure reliability and operational readiness.

Safety, Health, Environment and Risk Management

  • Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure all planned activities are conducted in accordance with applicable safety and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments and operational reviews.
  • Identify and escalate operational risks that may impact TSF performance or safety.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Full grade twelve (12) certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional registration with recognized engineering body (EIZ/ERB)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in mining operations, tailings management, construction, maintenance coordination, or related field.

Added advantage

  • Training or certification in Maintenance Planning, CMMS, Asset management or MS projects
  • Knowledge of TSF operations and water management systems will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Pronto or similar tools

Job Summary: The purpose of this role is to supervise civil construction projects within the mine and support project managers in their delivery of quality projects on time and within budget.
