Job Description

HELP KEEP YOUTH SAFE & WARM THIS WINTER

YOUTH RESOURCE CENTER WEEKEND STAFF | MANCHESTER, NH

Saturday and/or Sunday | 7:30 AM–12:30 PM | Variable Hour

When the temperatures drop, having a warm, safe place to go can make all the difference.

Waypoint is expanding the hours of our Youth Resource Center (YRC) in Manchester during the colder winter months to provide additional daytime access to youth and young adults experiencing homelessness or housing instability. We’re looking for caring, dependable people to help keep our doors open and our space welcoming on weekends.

As a Youth Resource Center Staff Member, you’ll be part of a team that creates a safe, welcoming environment where young people can warm up, connect with others, access basic needs and resources, and begin taking steps toward greater stability.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Welcome youth into a safe, warm, inclusive, and accessible space
  • Build positive relationships through trauma-informed care, positive youth development, and a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach
  • Help youth access resources and services related to housing, health, education, employment, and basic needs
  • Support a calm, respectful, and positive environment within the center
  • Assist with opening, closing, and day-to-day operations of the YRC
  • Work collaboratively with outreach workers, case managers, housing staff, and other members of the YRC team
  • Recognize opportunities to connect youth with additional support and resources
  • Help create a space where every young person feels seen, respected, and welcome

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of related experience preferred
  • Experience working with youth, individuals experiencing homelessness, or other vulnerable populations is a plus
  • Experience in outreach, behavioral health, sexual health, or human services is helpful
  • Strong communication, reliability, and the ability to remain calm and compassionate in challenging situations
  • A genuine commitment to equity, inclusion, and treating every young person with dignity and respect
  • Lived experience is valued and welcomed
  • Ability to successfully complete a required background check; prior legal or carceral involvement does not automatically exclude candidates

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

For a young person experiencing homelessness, a cold winter morning can be more than uncomfortable—it can be unsafe.

Your five hours on a Saturday or Sunday could mean a warm place to go, a safe person to talk to, a connection to resources, or simply knowing that someone cares.

At Waypoint, you'll join a mission-driven team committed to creating safer futures and helping young people move from surviving to thriving.

SCHEDULE

Saturday and/or Sunday | 7:30 AM–12:30 PM

These are fixed weekend hours during the colder months, with opportunities to work one or both weekend days.
