Position Overview

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Vocational Instructor for the Treatment and Detention Facility located in Rushville, Illinois to provide vocational instruction/training related to the assessed needs of the Sexually Violent Persons, which is a 24/7 secured residential facility. Evaluates resident’s vocational learning potential and monitors progress in a work setting. Records resident progress and status in vocational reports. Attends and participates in program meeting and conferences.

Essential Functions

• Provides vocational instruction/training related to the assessed needs of the Sexually Violent Persons located in the Treatment and Detention Facility, which is a 24/7 secured residential facility.
• Monitors and directs residents while in vocational work areas.
• Evaluates resident’s vocational learning potential and monitors progress in a work setting by observation of practice of skills and utilization of diagnostic instruments.
• Records resident progress and status in vocational reports.
• Attends and participates in program meeting and conferences with other professional disciplines for planning, coordinating and evaluating the instructional and treatment needs of the residents.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires two (2) years of practical journey level experience in basic vocational skills/tasks and life skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of professional experience providing occupational/training for a private or public organization.
• Two (2) years of professional experience coordinating classroom instruction to develop practical job skills and knowledge in students.
• Two (2) years of professional experience preparing reports and evaluating training progress using performance measures.
• Two (2) years of professional experience instructing residents in interview skills and techniques.
• Two (2) years of professional experience keeping records to maintain the progress and status of resident’s vocational skills and maintains files on each resident.

Conditions of Employment

Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
