Position Description:

Oversees digital platforms that support enterprise large-scale digital presence, and drive technology and architecture roadmaps. Manages the design and development of complex software solutions on platforms dedicated to high-scale processing of large amounts of data. Leads the development of application programming interface (API) components and microservices architectures to support system functionality, interoperability, and performance. Builds automation processes and implements continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) methodologies to improve application efficiency, scalability, and reliability. Deploys open-source technical streaming products via micro-services, Message-Oriented Middleware, Stream Processing, and Master Data Management. Enhances cloud-based environments by developing and maintaining components related to computing, storage, data processing, and analytics. Develops testing and validation procedures to ensure system performance and stability.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Translates and incorporates business vision and strategy to architectural strategy recommendations at the functional level.
• Participates in high-level, cross-functional architecture design teams.
• Identifies and consults with internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategic designs.
• Consults on development and delivery of major technology initiatives for the business unit.
• Consults on deployment of major project deliverables.
• Consults on the documentation of major technology applications.
• Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.
• Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.
• Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.
• Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.
• Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.
• Advises senior management on technical strategy.
• Researches and recommends new technologies.
• Works across groups to identify opportunities for organization-wide technology initiatives.
• Regularly provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.
• Identifies and plans for future resource needs.
• Determines technical approaches at a strategic level for the business unit.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and six (6) years of experience as a Vice President, Full Stack Engineering (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, building, and deploying highly secure and resilient software applications into public clouds (AWS or Azure) using cloud-native principles (12-factor) and DevOps practices. Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years of experience as a Vice President, Full Stack Engineering (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, building, and deploying highly secure and resilient software applications into public clouds (AWS or Azure) using cloud-native principles (12-factor) and DevOps practices.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and implementing distributed applications according to 12-factor principles, using Kubernetes, Confluent, and Kafka; modernizing legacy applications according to DevSecOps and Strangler patterns and tools (API Gateway and Lambda); and creating data architecture, standards, and performing gap analysis using DB2, IBM MQ, and AWS.
• DE architecting, provisioning, and deploying applications to public cloud-environments and on premises, virtualized environments using Java; and analyzing, designing, and providing best-fit architecture for Software as a Service (SaaS) and client/server applications, using S3, EC2, and Kubernetes.
• DE performing DevSecOps engineering and writing automated tests according to Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) methodologies (Jenkins, SonarQube, and Artifactory) and version control tools (GitHub); deploying Cloud native applications using Maven, Unix Shell Scripting, Docker, and Kubernetes; and implementing Single Sign-On (SSO), OAuth, and OpenID Connect (OIDC) patterns (to provide authentication and authorization to applications and APIs).
• DE modernizing solutions and creating Cloud-based SaaS applications, microservices, and message oriented architectures for online, high-volume, transactional applications, using AWS infrastructure services; and creating re-usable frameworks (for the expansion of infrastructure and product capabilities when implementing software applications) using AWS, Spring Cloud, Kafka, Apache Tomcat, and Apache Spark.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model

Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
