Position Summary

Supervise, assign and review the work of staff responsible for the routine servicing, maintenance and storage of City owned motor coach and staff vehicles; oversee and participate in all work activities and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing. Essential and Supplemental Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• Supervise, schedule and/or perform the functions and activities involved in the routing servicing of City-owned buses and vehicles.
• Interview, select and train employees in the processes and procedures and use of equipment.
• Assign, inspect and review the work of employees engaged in servicing motor coaches and staff vehicles.
• Note special problems, recommend and implement actions for resolution of difficulties.
• Maintain various reports such as injury, special incident and property damage.
• Perform evaluations, recommend and act on any corrective or disciplinary action.
• Perform more technical tasks of work or instruct employees in the performance of those tasks.
• Maintain inventory necessary for performing assigned tasks.
• Order supplies, equipment and material when needed.
• Monitor inventory budget to ensure compliance with budget allocation.
• Insure that on-the-job safety standards are met by conducting basic safety training in the use of equipment, tools, and work procedures.
• Must drive motor coaches to assist vehicle service employees.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

Attend meetings, conferences and training courses as required. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours of vocational training in vehicle servicing or repair;
• Four (4) years of experience servicing vehicles in a fleet environment; and
• To include one (1) year lead or supervisory experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Possession of a valid Driver's License.
• Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
• Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (Class B) with a Passenger (P) endorsement within six (6) months from date of hire.

Working Conditions

Environmental:

Office and field environments; exposure to noise, dust and computer screens, grease, smoke, fumes, gases; work or inspect in confined spaces; moving objects/vehicles; work closely with others.

Physical:

Essential and supplemental functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for prolonged periods of walking, standing or sitting; heavy or moderate lifting and carrying; kneeling, repeated bending stooping; operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
