Job Description

Overview

ABOUT US:

Founded in 1993, Bayview Asset Management is an investment management firm focused on investments in mortgage and consumer credit, including whole loans, asset-backed securities, mortgage servicing rights, and other credit-related assets.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Funding Specialist to support our growing Third-Party Originations (TPO) channel. This role is responsible for reviewing, validating, and funding residential mortgage loans sourced through approved correspondent partners, with a primary focus on non-agency lending products.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned mortgage operations professional with deep funding expertise, strong attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage complex transactions. Candidates with experience funding HELOCs, and both Bulk and Flow transaction types are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review loan files and funding conditions to ensure all requirements have been satisfied prior to funding.
  • Analyze loan documentation for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to company, investor, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage funding activities for a diverse portfolio of non-agency products, including jumbo, DSCR, Non-QM, Agency Conforming and HELOC loans.
  • Coordinate with Underwriters, Collateral, Treasury, and warehouse lending partners to ensure timely funding.
  • Prepare and authorize funding wires in accordance with established controls and procedures.
  • Identify and resolve funding exceptions, documentation discrepancies, and time-sensitive issues.
  • Resolve post-funding discrepancies and support the service transferring process.
  • Serve as a funding subject matter expert and provide guidance to team members as needed.
  • Support process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and risk management.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of mortgage funding, closing, or related mortgage operations experience.
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance, and/or BA/BS in another field with relevant work experience.
  • Strong understanding of third-party originations and correspondent lending processes.
  • Proven experience reviewing and funding residential mortgage transactions.
  • Knowledge of funding requirements, and investor guidelines.
  • Ability to independently manage a pipeline and prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience funding HELOCs (Home Equity Lines of Credit).
  • Strong knowledge of non-agency lending products, including non-QM, jumbo, DSCR, and Agency Conforming products.
  • Experience working with warehouse banks and correspondent lending partners.
  • Previous experience mentoring teammates or serving as a funding resource within a mortgage operations team.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?

  • Ability to confidently fund complex non-agency transactions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of the unique requirements associated with TPO lending channels.
  • Effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and external lending partners.
  • Commitment to accuracy, accountability, and exceptional service.
  • Ability to identify and proactively resolve issues before they impact funding timelines.
