Job Description

The Senior HR Generalist is a key member of the HR team, responsible for providing high level effective professional support across a broad spectrum of human resource functions. This role manages critical aspect of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, benefit administration, compliance, employee relations and investigations, and other day-to-day HR operations. The Senior HR Generalist plays a vital role in maintaining a positive workplace culture and fostering employee engagement while ensuring organizational compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and Hiring: Partners with program hiring managers to understand staffing needs, assist with job postings, coordinate interviews, and ensure seamless candidate experience.
  • Onboarding and Orientation: Manage new hire processing in Workday, facilitate new hire orientation and guide employees through benefit enrollment and address questions. Introducing organizational policies and promoting the company culture to new hires.
  • Employee Relations: Act as a trusted business partner for employees and managers by addressing concerns, mediating conflicts, and supporting sensitive workplace situations with professionalism and neutrality.
  • Handle complex employee relations issues, conduct investigations, and recommend actionable outcomes.
  • Provide coaching to managers on performance management, documentation, and effective communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with program and HR leadership team to implement effective performance management strategies and tools.
  • Partner with management team to respond to grievances and recommend resolution in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Ensure HR activities comply with federal, state, and local employment laws as well as the collective bargaining agreements.
  • Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, state-specific leaves, and workers’ compensation cases from initiation through return-to-work phases.
  • Serves as an internal resource to solve more difficult problems related to functional HR areas.
  • Serve as a liaison with third-party administrators and corporate office.
  • Support corporate HR initiatives, including but not limited to, annual performance reviews, merit increases, training requirements, and benefits open enrollment.
  • Leverage HR systems, including Workday and applicant tracking systems, to manage workflows, analyze data and support decision making.
  • Contribute to ongoing HR process improvements and solutions to address complex challenges.
  • Creates and maintains HR files and updates the information system in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in human resources, business administration, psychology, or a related field. Two (2) years of experience in Human Resources may be substituted for each year of the associate’s degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of well-rounded HR generalist experience, with demonstrated expertise in employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong experience in leave management, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and state-specific leaves, along with workers’ compensation coordination.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, and HR analytics.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused professional environment, with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • A track record of managing sensitive, confidential information with sound judgment and discretion.
  • General proficiency in HR-related tools and Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or a related field.
  • Experience using Workday.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment and with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Background in federal government contract or relevant industry.

Security & Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S government security clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a U.S government security clearance.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work all assigned shifts and schedules as needed.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Work Environment:

This position is based in office/on-site and aboard Naval Air Station Fallon Nevada. Compensation Details:

$80,000 - $85,000. The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
