Senior financial consultant

This position follows Office-Based schedule with (4) In-office days per week. Our office is located at 1 Optum Circle, Eden Prairie, MN.

This position is full-time Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8am - 5pm CST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer weeks of paid training. The hours of training will be based on your schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead SG&A financial planning and reporting, including month-end close, forecasts, long-range planning, allocations, and strategic initiatives.
• Partner with business, product, and technology leaders to evaluate growth, profitability, and investment opportunities through financial analysis and modeling.
• Own business cases, ROI analysis, and scenario modeling to support strategic decision-making.
• Develop and deliver executive financial reporting, highlighting key drivers, risks, opportunities, and variances.
• Serve as the primary finance partner to business and operations leaders, connecting business strategy to financial outcomes.
• Own performance measurement and forecasting models, including tracking and validating financial results against expectations.
• Lead cross-functional forecasting and planning processes, challenging assumptions and ensuring financial accuracy.
• Support operational teams in understanding financial impacts, performance drivers, and improvement opportunities.
• Drive financial governance, controls, and validation processes for investments, savings initiatives, and performance metrics.
• Provide broad finance support across operational and strategic priorities within Optum Rx.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Accounting or Finance OR equivalent experience
• 4+ years of financial and / or accounting experience
• 4+ years of experience with analyzing and interpreting financial statements
• 3+ years of financial planning / forecasting & analysis experience
• 2+ years of experience with presenting to leadership and / or business owners
• Knowledge and / or understanding of GAAP
• Intermediate level of Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA or CPA
• Oracle Essbase / SmartView Reporting experience
• PeopleSoft experience
• Healthcare or Pharmacy experience

Telecommuting Requirements:

• Reside within commutable distance to the office at 1 Optum Circle, Eden Prairie, MN
• Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
• Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
• Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
