Job Description

About the Role

Our California programs bill exclusively through Medi-Cal. We're hiring a Revenue Cycle Manager to design and lead the connected process that carries a service from clinical documentation through claim submission, payment, and posting. You'll build the structure, standards, and visibility that help clinical, billing, and finance work as one team.

This is a system-builder role. We're looking for someone who designs workflows, not just someone who runs them.

What You'll Do

  • Map and own the end-to-end Medi-Cal revenue cycle
  • Build clear handoffs and checkpoints between clinical, billing, and finance
  • Partner with clinical leaders to align documentation with Medi-Cal medical necessity and billing requirements
  • Create reporting that shows where every claim stands: submitted, pending, denied, paid
  • Lead denial analysis and fix root causes, not just individual claims
  • Keep processes current with DHCS, CalAIM, and county requirements
  • Prepare the program for audits and payer reviews
  • Train and coach clinical and administrative staff on their role in the cycle
  • Work alongside our finance and billing colleagues to build on what's working and strengthen the connections between teams

What You Bring

  • 5+ years in revenue cycle management, including Medi-Cal (behavioral health strongly preferred)
  • Experience building or redesigning billing workflows
  • Working knowledge of Medi-Cal claiming, authorization, and documentation standards
  • Comfort with EHR and billing systems and 837/835 files
  • Ability to translate between clinical and financial language
  • A data-driven approach to tracking, measuring, and improving

Nice to Have

  • Experience with county mental health plans or specialty mental health services
  • Youth residential or behavioral health experience
  • EHR implementation or optimization experience

Work Location

This role is based in our Tustin or San Diego office and is primarily in-office, because the work depends on close, daily collaboration with clinical and finance teams. It is not a remote position.

After more than 40 years of improving the lives of youth, Rite of Passage continues to seek passionate individuals who believe in the power of growth, accountability, and second chances.
