WashU's Division of Student Success seeks a residential life professional for the position of Residential Community Director. The Division of Student Success advances the educational mission of the university through resources and experiences outside the classroom that prepare our students for lifelong success.
The Residential Community Director (RCD) role is a full-time, live-in position that manages the day-to-day community development initiatives and services to create supportive and welcoming residential communities. This is a 3-year time-limited role. The start date is negotiable, with the end of the first year being on June 30th of that academic year. All subsequent years run July 1st to June 30th.
This position supervises Resident Assistants (RAs), or Assistant Residential Community Director (ARCD) if applicable, and will advise a residential programming board. Develops and implements residential learning programs and initiatives; assists with enhancing student development. Advises students and collaborates with staff and faculty to create living/learning communities that enrich the students' University experience. Provides crisis intervention to residents; assesses nature of concerns and resolves or refers for resolution. Educates and informs residents of Residential Life policies and community standards; holds residents accountable and restores community impact from policy violations, issues educational and restorative obligations. This position is responsible for assigned after-hours/weekend/holiday on-call duties on a rotational basis to address any residential based emergencies. Oversees the residential community budget, collaborates with facilities and housekeeping, and participates in assigned departmental committees.
Lives in university-provided housing. Ability to work on-call and travel to on- and off-campus locations.
