Position Information

Position Overview

The Product Designer contributes to a collaborative environment where usable, viable, and feasible solutions are developed to meet the business needs of customers. This role designs for data-rich healthcare software, balances hands-on design work with active contribution to our shared design system, and brings curiosity about AI-assisted design workflows to improve the quality and speed of that work.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for adhering to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training.
  • Collaborate with peers across teams to advance UX design practice.
  • Work from a vision instead of being solely task-oriented.
  • Manage work commitments across multiple teams and projects by understanding underlying business priorities.
  • Plan and conduct user research activities (surveys, interviews, usability studies, analytics reporting, pilot testing, etc.) to guide product design and ongoing improvements; document findings.
  • Create mockups, prototypes, and workflow diagrams as needed; ensure designs align with established patterns, user validation, and research.
  • Improve existing products and functionality to create a better user experience; update processes and workflows to accommodate changing business needs.
  • Reflect our design system in your work, contribute improvements (components, tokens, documentation), and develop reusable components for sharing across the organization.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate design work and improve quality; stay curious about emerging technologies and where they fit into the design process.
  • Leverage technical experience to communicate product needs to the development team; question and challenge development and QA resources to facilitate constructive brainstorming and solution design.
  • Work with distributed teams during development and QA to provide guidance and ensure UX specifications are met; partner with engineers to clarify design intent and adjust designs when constraints arise.
  • Participate actively in design critique and reviews, and be available as a resource to other designers.
  • Present designs and receive feedback constructively; revise designs based on input from users, teammates, stakeholders, and engineering partners.
  • Deliver consistent, clear, and timely communication (written and verbal) to project stakeholders.

Qualifications Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in UX design or related field.
  • Proficient in user experience design principles and methods.
  • Familiarity with design systems and scalable UX patterns.
  • Proficiency in graphic design.
  • Familiarity with agile development principles.
  • Eye for aesthetic design and customer appeal, with an interest in accessibility and inclusive design.
  • Proficiency in Figma; familiarity with FigmaMake, Cursor, and Claude a plus.
  • Experience designing enterprise software, SaaS platforms, or data-rich applications; healthcare or other regulated-industry experience a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $78,629 - $100,500. Salary will be determined on the candidate’s level of experience and qualifications. Compensation will be commensurate with skills, relevant experience, and performance in similar roles.
